Pretty much the same at mine, thebish. A year or two ago I was cleaning out my workshop of battery powered radio controlled cars. Some of them were brand new, some had been cannibalised for parts but all were unused. Not wishing to flood the market I put them out the front in lots. The first lot was partly taken by scavengers who left all the packaging (Styrofoam and cardboard) for me to dispose. The second lot - after a bit of thunking - I reluctantly put on exhibit to the great unwashed. To my surprise within an hour or so I had two families knocking on my door inquiring as to whether they were really free. Between them they took the lot leaving the front nature strip as clean as one could ask.

My anger and distrust evaporated. There are honest people inhabiting the world.

Naturally it is a little more complicated than appears. Costa Rica has more than one Supreme Court and they rukled differently on the issue. See http://www.newswire.ca/en/story/1140791 ... costa-rica" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

I spotted that. 'Some children are now questioning the existence of the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy....'

Won't somebody think of the children?

I must admit when my brother's youngest was about 5 her teacher told them that if they believed in Fa' Chri'ma they were 'stupid'.

That didn't go down well.

And a Merry Christmas to each and every one of us!

I don't see what the problem with the Vicar explaining that the concept of Santa is a myth about a ficticious character who can see when you're good and naughty, keep track and hand out rewards based on that behaviour.

Oh.

*teh satiressss!!!1111*
I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

Father Christmas has always been a sort of magical fairy story that young kids love. Comes a time when they're old enough for the belief to disappear naturally, leastaways that's what happened with us. Mind you, as Catholics it was always tied in with Nativity as an event. It's always seemed a natural progress of evelovement to me, but a couple of weeks ago my daughter announced my grandson wasn't speaking to her and had accused her of lying to him about Father Christmas. He was definitely not amused. He's eight. I suppose it leaves you not knowing what to think for the best?

i don't think this was anything to do with telling kids Santa doesn't exist - it was simply an assembly where he talked about the stories told about St Nicholas and the tradition of giving gifts to one another...

Now get that lawn cut and those leaves raked up.

Have you cleaned the windows yet ? I have just done the outside ones ... under severe threat to life if I didn't ... and those spider nests in the corners are bastards to move.

Thank God for the Karcher window vac. by the way.

I think he is right to apologise but that should be that. He clearly didn't mean to *break the news* but its still a but awkward. Unconvinced by the knob head parents saying it has ruined Xmas though! Has it feck.and if it has that's because they're not doing it right.

Totally agree (strange, I know) . All the parents had to do was say he was wrong. and the world would be okay again. (followed by his apology it would have been acceptable to young kids.) "Knob-heads" is a good descrption of over-reactionists.
