Oh my word.

I'm going to sit here remembering only those two corners against Bournemouth.

How awful for his family and friends.

RIP Paul.

Blimey. That's no age.

For his families sake, admittedly we are still in the 12 days of Christmas but I was mainly referring to Christmas day. Dosent matter though I will edit the post.

I'm not a fan of minutes applause but I know Burnley held one for him, did we? Wonder if the Pie Eaters did too?

Compo was one of those players the programme notes would always unflatteringly describe as a 'journeyman player'. He wasn't the best - he wasn't the worst but he was always committed and clearly loved playing the game.

I spoke to Paul many times and shared a pint or two with hmi post match in the King Bill. He was always very forthcoming with the fans, never dodged a question and told things how they were. Once telling Stuart Storer to 'feck off' when he came over to join us one day.

I don't know why.

Anyway, very sad and a bit of an eye opener at such a young age.

I'm sure we all remember his claim to fame. I was there.
I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

He had 2 claims to fame in a Bolton shirt. One was quite positive the other, much less so.

Apart from those two, a goal at Watford in the cup and him scaring David Lee out of the 2nd leg play off final v Bury are what I can still recall. The Bury game was quite an achievement as Lee always had a blinder against us, up until then.

The Bolton news first reported his untimely passing in it's usual style by getting all the facts wrong in the 1st paragraph. He moved to Bolton from Chester (he didn't), he played for Burnley at Wembley when they won the Sherpa Van trophy v Wolves (they lost 0-2)

Rest in Peace, Compo.

Abiding memories of watching him play for Wanderers at Burnden and was there for that moment too
