Which isn't what was first said, but hey ....“In the beginning it was an eight to 10-week injury we were looking at but I’m now told it’s 12 to 13. We could be looking at another five weeks.
“I don’t think the healing has been quite as good as we’d hoped it would be.
“The physios tell me it needs to be stripped back a little bit and given more time to naturally heal.”
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Bogdan out for five weeks.
Wasn't our bench keeper on Saturday, against Millwall, the double-barrel named one from, er .... Millwall ??Enoch wrote:I wager we bring in someone else.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Yep, that's my fear...officer_dibble wrote:Lonergans been reet so no worries. Not keen on the cover though. This would bear checking but I think he was released by Millwall and came to us as a free agent. Only signed a very short term deal too.bobo the clown wrote:Wasn't our bench keeper on Saturday, against Millwall, the double-barrel named one from, er .... Millwall ??

Re: Bogdan out for five weeks.
Thought the keeper we had on loan was Arran Lee-Barrett which was the Ipswich number one for the first half of last season. Not a good keeper but Lonergan has been good and I'd probably rather Lonergan over Bogdan atm

Re: Bogdan out for five weeks.
Made his comeback yesterday with the development squad. They won 4-0 against Leicester.
I hope he doesn't go straight back in the team
I would sell him personally. I'm sure we could get around 1 million for him. Lonergan is a much better keeper and should be the number 1 IMO.

I agree if possible, there are always solid reserve keepers available if needed.ChrisC wrote:Made his comeback yesterday with the development squad. They won 4-0 against Leicester.

Re: Bogdan out for five weeks.
A run of decent form by the back-up goalie does not mean we should transfer our No.1 choice and former Player of the Season.
Imagine if we'd have sold Jussi when he was crocked in the earlier 2000s because loanee Matt Clarke or Little Steve Banks was flavour of the month. Imagine.
I too hope Boggy doesn't come straight back into the starting 11.
In this moment he doesn't deserve to, in this moment Lonegran deserves to start.
But the pressure's on Lonny now to maintain the way he's playing in this moment.
Any wavering performances or a desperate clanger and our Ginger Hungarian international will be back between the sticks.

Re: Bogdan out for five weeks.
Ideally you keep both and welcome the competition. However if we could get shut and bring in a decent full back/striker as a result I'd go for it.
He's no Jussi, and never will be. He's not terrible, but not very good either. Jussi was top class quite early in his career.

A run of decent form? Lonergan has never let us down. Even when he was only getting the cup games everyone wanted him to get an extended run in the team.
Bogdan is going backwards. He is all over the place, doesn't command his box and most importantly, he doesn't give the defence confidence.
Get shut for me.
Re: Bogdan out for five weeks.
Aye, Bogdan is a 'never going to make it' for me. Get cash monies if offered. Been nice having a proper keeper.
And when the feck was he our player of the year?! He's never had two good games in a row!

Bogdan is 26 - he's learned his trade behind a succession of struggling defences
When Jussi was 24 he was getting dropped and replaced by Steve Banks - he was often like a startled rabbit
Its unlikely Bogdan will ever be as good as Jussi - who plenty Bolton fans reckoned was shit through much of his time with us - and getting shut of Barber and replacing him with Phil Hughes probably didn't help, but put Bogdan behind a defence of Hunt, Bergsson, Ngotty and Gardner and then compare him
Lonergan has surprised me with how good he has been and I think he desereves to stay in, for now

Re: Bogdan out for five weeks.
Jussi has been the best keeper I have seen, that Bolton have had.
Bogdan has the attributes, big, really good boot on him but its the mistakes he is liable to make that let him down. Maybe this injury and taking him out of the starting eleven will have done him good.
I don't think he should be sold and hopefully he will get better.
