Season 5 for me.
And Kim Bauer is the most irritating character I've ever seen in a TV programme.

Also, watched Chinatown for the first time this evening. Now THAT is a film. For a two-hour picture that flew by. Great storytelling.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
As I posted a few pages back, it looks great. I started the first episode but I struggled to understand what they were saying (I have slight hearing issues) so I'm going to wait until its on over here or I can get a copy with subtitles.General Mannerheim wrote:Reckon were onto summat special with this 'True Detective' going off the first two eps...!

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Season three cannot be beaten.
Spoiiiiillllleeeeer:
1) End of epidode; bites a man todeath to escape.
2) End of episode; drop-kicks a suicide-bomber out of the back of a tube train as he explodes.
3)End of episode; nuclear bomb in LA goes off in the background, shoots his partner dead (Curtis, noooooooooooo) to save a bad guy/good guy asset.
Tip fecking top.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Watched the first two Benefit Streets the other night after Crayons' recco. Properly sad, and fairly balanced I thought (for C4 anyway).
A few proper wankers, and few gratuitous shots of big TVs, lots of touching moments of genuine people struggling. Some of it was proper touching. 50p man, and Fungi in particular.
But still, folk can pay 5k for a candelabra, so it's working.

Number 3 especially (the first bit) is one of the best moments ever on TV.

Ep 2) shades it for me. Ended up cheering at the screen.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Me too, General. Gonna be a good'un. Where you watching, btw? Not in a stalkerish manner but just because Genesis in Whitechapel is £3.50 a ticket on mondays atm. Peckham is similarly priced too for mondays.
Also, for anyone interested, involved in this movie bloghttp://sodyourmultiplex.wordpress.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; which looks at films that people might not have seen, reviews them and puts said reviews on teh internet. Might be worth reading for some (and if you want to contribute... ). Either way, might be of interest.

I am really looking forward to this - though it hasn't yet hit Bolton. Next week, I guess.General Mannerheim wrote:looking forward to 'Inside Llewyn Davis' tonight, already been playing the soundtrack for 2 weeks!

Re: What are you watching tonight?
I thought Douglas was fantastic for a kick off, its a pretty courageous role to play too. newfound respect for him after this. Just a good, solid yet outrageous biopic. Looks great, very stylish, very kitsch. And great performances from everyone tbf (Rob Lowe as the surgeon is hilarious)William the White wrote:Yes, i saw you liked it. One of the reasons I watched tbh. Why did you think it was so good?General Mannerheim wrote:I thought it was terrific.
Starts off camp, funny and fabulous, becomes quite eerily grotesque and tragic. Always compelling and insightful.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
brilliant. Relieved tbh, was half expecting to leave a bit disappointed after mixed reviews but was absolutely not. I can see why some might not like it, nothing much happens, it's a meandering window into the life of this struggling folk singer, but it's right up my street. I loved everything about it. Even the cat.General Mannerheim wrote:looking forward to 'Inside Llewyn Davis' tonight, already been playing the soundtrack for 2 weeks!
Re: What are you watching tonight?
Are the characters depictions of real life acts or some just loosely based on em? i saw a clip that looked very Peter, Paul & Mary.General Mannerheim wrote:brilliant. Re: What are you watching tonight?
Llewyn Davis is a fictional character, the story was partly inspired by the autobiography of Dave Van Ronk.
