Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

About £17 a kilo to make, about 8 quid a pack of back bacon if I don't. Still, I make it back petrol as that is only 30p a litrePrufrock wrote:Yeah at about £20 a sandwichAbdoulaye's Twin wrote:I make my own. Freezer full of itPrufrock wrote:Mmmmm... Baaaaaacon.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
Energy suppliers and telephone companies.
Had a query for EON who are currently robbing us blind; rang the supplied number; told "we are currently operating on seven-minute delays, blah blah". Twenty five minutes later I finally got through to be read some standard printed answers to everything and no real joy on my query. Standing charge, V.A.T etc, etc and make sure you switch your immersion heater off etc. We never switch our electric fires on anything but convector and use low wattage heaters on timers. I'm currently paying between sixty and seventy pounds per week for electricity.
I'm now waiting for my bill to find if the telephone number was a "priority" one that will also cost me a bomb for being inconsiderate and not going away when they were busy. I thoroughly dislike the word "wankers", but right now it seems appropriate to use it.
ps. Unfortunately, we are all electric and have no gas at all so no other company is fighting for our business. I've used a pre-payment meter for electricity and never been in a penny debt with it for thirty years. I'd probably have got better treatment if I had been. "Wankers" (there, I've said it again.).

I didn't think it was appropriate to put this on the another thread, but I'd like to ask a question, please.
What in the world of f*ck is a charity doing to only be able to scrape £57k out of £227k of charitable giving? (with reference to Worthy's research).
That just sounds both ridiculous and counter-productive.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Paying people to post on here?
I'm genuinely appalled! I think this is the feeling people have as they type letters away to the Daily Mail!

This is well sad!

Don't think Spotty should read it or else his head might explode.
They also filmed a properly gruesome 'autopsy'.
Autopsy?! Autopsy?! I can fecking tell you what killed it, the bolt-gun to the face you just used.

Its report also identified smaller exmaples of what it claimed was Government “waste”, including more than £520,000 from the loss of a spare part for an anti-aircraft missile system at the Ministry of Defence, and £480,000 theft of humanitarian supplies from the Department for International Development by Al Shabaab militia in Somalia.

Get rid of the zoos. If God wanted lions in Bolton we wouldn't need stone ones on the town hall steps. Even our Alf would be far happier guarding a Chinese emperor than barking at window-cleaners in Farnworth.

I don't mean to sound callous, but isn't this a lot of media attention for one dead giraffe? Not nearly as bad as the coverage cat-bin-gate got though.

One dead giraffe that despite offers of re-homing was needlessly shot before being chopped up and fed to the lions in front of watching schoolchildren? Yes, that's a lot of media attention for "one dead giraffe". You might not 'mean' to sound callous, Beefheart.........

And they filmed the 'autopsy' which was performed in front of the kids. Don't watch it! I'm surprised Spotty hasn't declared war on Denmark.

I'm stunned the beeb hasn't been more condemnatory, they did after all use the analogy when reporting the bloke who had surfed the tallest wave as it being four giraffes tall. Four Danish giraffes tall is about six foot.
That's not a leopard!

Two things:
1) Ignorant wankers - I went into the tube station at work to top-up my Oyster Card ready for the strike (which is now off - hooray, wrong thread). As I'm coming out some silly cow texting on her phone not looking where she is going cuts across me causing us both to judder to a stop. I stop and say 'I'm sorry' and she replies, 'It's okay'.
Whoa whoa whoa you silly bitch! 'It's okay'?! I don't fecking think so, love! That's not how this works! We're British, and, as a people, we decided to take the approach or large-scale insurance to this sort of thing. Spread liability. Whenever anything like this happens the last thing we do is to try to work who is actually at fault. Instead, everyone is sorry, all the time, for everything. It stops anyone getting ahead of themselves thinking they are too happy or too successful and contributes to the general sense of national sf-loathing which is our calling-card. Everyone is meant to be contrite in case it was inexplicably, but actually, their fault. Accordingly I apologised. Given she was in fact clearly in the wrong I expect at least the same from her. It's fine! This country has gone to the dogs.
2) What the feck is the point of non-iron shirts? Granted, they dry noticeably less creased, but, crucially, not crease-less enough that you can actually wear the damn things without ironing them! Provided your idea of drying things is not screwing them up into balls, or wearing them in bed, normal shirts will only take a light ironing, so what fecking use is a shirt which also only takes a light ironing even if it is slightly less creased before said ironing. In short, why am I paying a fiver more for a shirt made of a material which goes bobbly within 6 months and which still needs ironing, you lying bastards?!
