Saw it last week & yes, fascinating.wigan white wrote:Watched "Sound City" on BBC4 catch up, what a fantastic film/documentary. Thoroughly recommend it as its riviting to see the place where some of the best ever albums where recorded and the history behind the studio, plus its done by Dave Grohl, who in my eyes can do no wrong![]()

Interesting that they rejected the move to digital technology which, whilst brave, in the longest run won't have done them any favours.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Hence why they had to shut down, as Trent Reznor said in the film, they should have embraced the digital technology and used it alongside the original recording equipment (instead of also going completely digital) but instead they just refused point blank to use it, and as you say, it cost them in the end.bobo the clown wrote:Saw it last week & yes, fascinating.wigan white wrote:Watched "Sound City" on BBC4 catch up, what a fantastic film/documentary. We watched I am Slave. A film from 2010, where a young Nuba woman is captured by raiders, enslaved in Khartoum and then London - her 'owners' being wealthy Sudanese diplomats.
Based on a true story. Apart from making the Nuba mountain villages look pretty pleasant places (they are truly forsaken and hungry places) this is a powerful drama. It ends with an estimate of 5000 slaves in UK and millions world wide - the same plea for attention to this that came from Steve McQueen in his BAFTA acceptance speech last night.

How do they come up with those numbers Bill, do they explain? When that story of the women in London came out I remember reading such an estimate and wondering how on earth you'd come up with it.

On Channel 5 tonight, there's "The Big British Immigration Row" for two hours, being some sort of studio debate on the topic. I might tune in, to hear about Muslamic Ray Guns and see if Hoboh's a guest panelist. On Channel 4, they have Benefits Street, followed by Benefits Britain: The Live Debate.
Plenty for everyone's favourite daily to report on tomorrow. Hobes could go into overdrive.

Which bit in particular? I thought the debate had a very particular slant.

Blimey - I missed all the most burning issues in favour of Paxman ending the Great War. A very good series, I think (though I didn't catch all)... argued with quite a lot of it but never felt it was biased. An honest and intelligent look at the period.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Not sure you missed much on the immigration debate to be honest. When the most articulate speaker for tighter immigration controls is from the Daily Mail (the other two being Katie Hopkins and some duffer from UKIP), it looked to me like they were trying to redress the balance of their poll that suggested 70% of folks would like to see greater controls.William the White wrote:Blimey - I missed all the most burning issues in favour of Paxman ending the Great War. In fairness, they did also interview Anjem Choudray and had some other nutter on the pro-immigration side, but they didn't get anything like the airtime, that idiot Hopkins got.

Ballsy, and amazing.

I think the new characters will be from the new haven, Terminus that they will all go to.
Them being out in the open at night after the relative safety of the prison had me sitting uncomfortably in my chair.
Re: What are you watching tonight?
House of Cards new series now on Netflix apparently and can't wait to see it. Has anyone seen Southlands? Looks like a goer?

I like that girl, she gives me the creeps and is playing that part really well.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
I just think it was her, don't think it was ever confirmed. Interested in how it will pan out between Carol and Tyreese with him playing along like he doesn't know.jaffka wrote:Has it been established who was feeding the rats?LeverEnd wrote:She was the one feeding rats to walkers right?
