^nice one. Have to say I always get a great buzz from marshalling, but not sure I'd have the bottle to be head honcho at an event. Doing the finish funnel at last years Pike race was pressure enough. I'm full of admiration for the main organizer after the 5k trouble. He must have balls of steel!

Interesting article. Broadly agree, though would love to see him win it. Eamonn Martin wasn't fancied in 1992 but he pulled it off. Would be great to see a British winner again. I loved watching that race, martin was a top bloke and great athlete, but to put it into context his time that day would put him a mile and half behind the winner on Sunday. So if Mo even gets close to winning it on debut it would be a fantastic achievement.

Enjoyable fell race yesterday. Hard going but with the exception of a couple of steep hills was nearly all runnable. Pleased with my time but at one point it felt as though I was having the race of my life when with a mile to go I was overtaken by 4 well known (& good) runners. Turned out they'd taken a wrong turn and did an extra mile to the rest of us

Haha! Well run though. Bolton 10k went well without incident , 630 finishers and my sister was delighted with 52.48 in her first ever 10k. Cath who I am coaching won ins course record too ehich was great.Harry Genshaw wrote:Enjoyable fell race yesterday. And I ran parkrun pb of 18.39 yesterday which was a sue purse since I'd run once in 10 days. The LLS approach is the future!

^ that's a great 1st 10k time. Good on her.
Spotted the park run. Beltin time that. Finished 2nd too
Swapping the stretching and training for grumbling at e-cig users obviously agrees with you!

Just reread the typing and spelling of my post. That would be down to the 8 or so pints I drank in the afternoon after getting back from the 10k. Did squeeze a steady half hour round Lever Park in beforehand though.

Made my debut at the Pike race today. Great race and with support all along the route, you just have to grit your teeth and get through it, although at times I was sure I'd have lactic acid coming out of mi ears. Nice to bump into LE, his mum and some random baby he appeared to have kidnapped!

Caught sight of something about some guy that's been caught cheating in the London Marathon. Did the 2nd half quicker than Mo Farrah

May the bridges I burn light your way
Re: The athletics/running thread
It is a great race. Must do it at some point. Well run, and you'll be pleased to know I returned the baby when it started crying.Harry Genshaw wrote:Made my debut at the Pike race today. 2nd half in 61 mins! I think not. What a bellend. There are currently no GB athletes other than Mo who can do that for a flat-out half Marathon, let alone the 2nd half of a full one. Anyone who can run sub 65 would be well known.
The Sun reported it tried to contact Scotland-Williams but was told to ‘f*** off’.

He's been called out. The bellend.

Re: The athletics/running thread
After a near three week hiatus with one of the worst colds I've had I am officially back on track. I literally could not go up a flight of stairs without getting out of breath and still have a fairly productive cough but this has been my week so far.......
6 mile run last Thursday nearly killed me.
700m swim on Saturday
10 mile run Easter Sunday in 1hr 20
Sprint and efforts session yesterday
1000m swim this evening.
I need to taper now for a sprint triathlon on Sunday. Not been on the bike but it's only 25k so I should be fine.

Wondered where you'd gone! Sounds like a decent week back on it, hope the chunky coughs abate soon. I'm feeling a bit better now, stepping it up. Radcliffe 10k on Sunday, not looking forward to it but it's a club Grand Prix race and will give me an idea.

Other stuff's kept me off here as well as the illness but yes, good to be back.
Good luck with Radcliffe. Is it off road?
Re: The athletics/running thread
Largely yes. MT race on trails round the Irwell valley, tough course is what I need. Are you running HG?Gary the Enfield wrote:LeverEnd wrote:Wondered where you'd gone! Ran up to the pigeon tower the other day, legs feel battered, but back stood up to the descent.
Entered a very fast 5k on May 23rd, Christleton nr Chester. Done it a few times as far back as 1998. Last year the winning time was 13:59 so the course is rapid! Should have done a couple more track sessions by then, so expect to run a lot faster than at parkrun.
Hope the tri goes well GtE.

Re: The athletics/running thread
Missed this coming up and am off camping this weekend so I'll have to give it a miss. I did it a few years ago and have done the 10 mile race round there they do in February. Best of luck with it bud, and to you too GtELeverEnd wrote: Largely yes. MT race on trails round the Irwell valley, tough course is what I need. Are you running HG?

Bedford tri results confirmed.
400 Swim 10:14 (20 secs faster than last time)
T1 2:26 (slow due to number belt snapping)
24k Bike 52:21 (6 seconds faster)
T2 51 seconds
5k Run 21:51 (1:11 slower)
Fairly consistent overall.
Last time 1:26:01
This time 1:27:41
