You asked if Hoboh did it... that's derogatory. (to Moris Dancingthebish wrote:Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Oi.thebish wrote: is it Morris Dancing?
Do not mention Morris Dancing in a derogatory manner...
It takes guts to get dressed up and look a right wally. It takes even bigger guts to then dance about whilst waving a couple of hankies.
Morris Dancers are hale, hearty, heroic, substantial, venerable, historic, culturally enhancing, beer-swilling, handsome, energetic, organic, fundamental, thrilling and entirely English. (You'd never find a Frenchman Morris Dancing).
who said anything derogatory??

That's not a leopard!

Hoboh, have you seen the percentage share of the vote?Hoboh wrote:Where are all these people then? where are the votes of this massive majority? Not there, maybe they are just apathetic and don't hold the EU so dear?Prufrock wrote:I'm not on about minority turnout. I'm on about minority of the votes cast. I don't know about the individual views of each potential MEP, but when they are announced, the MEPs who are members of parties who favour staying in the EU will outnumber those who favour leaving. I don't need to play the numbers. That's the will of the people.
The rest of that^ is just meaningless epithets. No-one is telling you how to think, no-one is telling you who to be like. You have plenty in common with Europeans. As for the numbers game and picking and choosing. It's a bit rich to accuse me of that and then completely discount London!
You seem to think you speak for the 'will of the people' but yet again the results show that's nonsense.
More people are pissed off with the EU, certainly. More may want to leave it. They're still a minority, and still by some way.
Face it the establishment just got a good kick in the nuts and there is more to come, the liberal love all policies from the 60's 70's and 80's are slowly unrapping.
Labour: 31%
Conservative: 29%
UKIP: 17%
Lib Dem: 13%
That is the projected share national share of the vote based on last nights results.
I think what PRU is saying is that 83% of voters didn't vote UKIP. 83% of voters voted for parties that want to stay in the EU. Is 83% not a massive majority?
Yet you are claiming the exact opposite, that a massive majority are voting for UKIP.
I'm confused.....
Re: The Politics Thread
Almost. There's only 73% there as that only adds up to 90% with presumably 10% being 'other' some of which will be minor parties who want to stay in the EU (like the Greens) and some being minor parties who want to quit (there were plenty little 'uns like that on my paper).
Is that^ some sort of 'combined result' for the different elections?
I'm most interested in the EU results, in which UKIP will presumably have done better. Even there, the single issue party, in elections based entirely to do with that 'issue', look like being a long way short of 50%, and a lot fewer votes than the combined totals of the parties committed to staying 'in'.
That's not to say everyone is delighted with how it's working, but that of even those who aren't, plenty want to reform it not leave it.

They didn't get much change in Salford. Although they displaced the Tory's to third in around 50% of the seats.

People had a chance to actually vote yesterday and of those that did a good portion opted to vote for an anti EU party, thats a fact, not twisting things because it did not go the way of Euro luvies

You are merely talking up a hypothetical 83% assuming they all vote anyway, a good proportion of them, youth, don't give a stuff because it ain't on facebook or twitter and won't vote!
Anyway keep it up, you will lamenting the loss of all the Scottish socialists if the vote no camp cannot deliver, provide evidence or convince people the union is good for them, just like the plebs from the EU.

The last polls I saw for the EU ones had:
UKIP - 27%
Labour - 26%
Tories - 22%
Greens - 10%
Lib Dems - 9%
That's 27% for leaving the EU, and 67% for staying with 6% unknown. Even if all the rest voted for 'out' parties, that's still 2 'in' voters for every 1 'out'.
You seem to be crowing as if there's a majority against the EU

Anyway a little closer to home
Although it is the first local election in which Bolton UKIP has fielded any candidates — they have only previously contested Horwich by-elections — they took a seat off both Labour and the Conservatives - and UKIP finished second in 13 seats.
The loss of Little Lever and veteran councillor Maureen Connell to UKIP was a big blow for the Labour leadership.
And Labour narrowly escaped defeat in Kearsley — where the difference between winner Derek Burrows for Labour and Mark Cunningham for UKIP was just 43 votes.
Not bad for new kids on the block, the red rosseted pigs had better start delivering some service.
Worried Yasmin? worried enough to actually find those that vote for you, or are you still overseas defending the rights of woman in Pakistan?

The actual share, not projected is:
Labour 32%
Conservatives 28%
Lib Dems 16%
UKIP 15%
Green 6%
Other 3%
So of those who voted 15% voted UKIP. Good but hardly suggestive of the majority being behind the swivel eyed loons is it?

I don't know how many other ways to put this. I'm talking about the projected results for the people who actually voted. I'm not on about the people who can't be arsed voting, I'm on about the people who were arsed, and did vote, and voted for a party who policy is to stay within the EU 2 times for every 1 time they voted for a party who want to leave.Hoboh wrote:

Same for labour voters, I'll concede the lib dems

Admit it you thought that UKIP support was really non existant and like the 3 main parties you've had a bit of a shock

no - he didn't say that - he said that they voted for parties whose stated current policy is to stay in the EU.

I voted for a party that wants to maintain Morris Dancers.
I believe that I'm in the majority.
In fact 99.7% of parties agree with the statement "No u-turn on Morris Dancers".
The only ones who want to ban it are Respect, and they can f*ck off.
