A friend of mine had a similar problem down there and had an op. We decorated his front door with a shrivelled long pink balloon, a shrivelled round one, and a massively over-inflated pink round one. Miserable b'stard didn't find it funny.

Been out for lunch this afternoon. First thing out is a sandwich on a f*cking slate, followed by two burgers on wooden boards. I can't be doing with that bollocks at the best of times but I couldn't believe mine eyes when they brought out my pie and chips on a board with a side pot of gravy. What the juddering feck am I supposed to do with that?! Just use plates you tw*ts.
she was served this...

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
indeed... it was called a bruschetta (or some such) - basically, a piece of toast with chopped up tomatoes and lettuce and some kind of drizzled salad dressing...
(I had a huge baked potato smothered with butter and cheese and beans washed down with a pot of tea.)

Nowt wrong with bruschetta, it's fecking lovely, but stick it on a bastard plate.
The other thing they don't seem to have grasped with these bullshit ways of serving stuff is you need space to play with. You can shove stuff around on a plate so you've a corner to work in at cutting it up. Those, you can't get at it coz if you move anything it falls on the fecking table.

Love brushetta, but that lettuce needs swapping for mozzarella.

Ah sorry, I thought you meant you'd have a paddy and chuck it everywhere!
Went to Leo's in Horwich with the rents last time I was up (I'm not a big fan but they love it) and had an ace bruschetta starter. Three little ones, two with tomato and mozzarella, and one with tomato lettuce. I thought it was a nice compromise

It's a hard 'k' sound in bruschetta.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
The lack of plate was the only thing that marred my visit to the Strawbury Duck. A 3 inch x 12 inch slate, containing salad, 'bucket' of fries (tw@ts) and burger with 3 ginormous onion rings stacked on top. The fact that they had to stack them on top of the burger, should have been enough for them to realise how pretentious the whole thing was.
Not been to Leo's in donkey's. We actually went there for an evening meal after our wedding. That may have been our last visit. 20 years? fecking hell!

I've been contemplating this for a while as the "does not compute" part of my brain kicked in.Prufrock wrote:William the White wrote:Pru affirms northern values once more! Excellent.Prufrock wrote:Nowt wrong with bruschetta, it's fecking lovely, but stick it on a bastard plate.

Poncy food served in a northern style. In other words, massive and on a proper plate, with a proper knife and fork.
There are at least four things wrong with bruschetta.
1) There is a distinct lack of pieliness about it. There might be one (or possibly a couple) hidden under the garden weeds, but I'm not brave enough to check
2) There also seems to be a lack of chips
3) And I'm assuming this is where you got really angry. On a serving board like that, the gravy will undoubtedly spill off the edge, when it arrives separately.
4) Garden weeds, such as something allegedly called fecking rocket, is for the pet rabbit. Maybe this is why they stuck it on an easy to get at board - so the rabbit didn't struggle, whilst you await your food.
