Re: Today I'm angry about.....
Good question, where was it and what's it called now? One of those names you heard of. When I was growing up Mancroft Avenue had the bad rep in Great Lever. I think they kicked a lot out and cleaned it up though.bwfcdan94 wrote:No, what was it and what happened to it?Bijou Bob wrote:You've never heard of De Lacey Drive have you Dan?!bwfcdan94 wrote:I very much doubt BP and the criminal masterminds of Tonge Moor would have much chance against their counterparts in Tirana some how though.Bijou Bob wrote:Which makes him harder, poorer and more of a criminal than most Albanians......................according to a recent survey.............bwfcdan94 wrote:It amazes me that people who refuse to do their job properly for reasons like "it's a bad day", stay employed. How did the bloke in question become middle management in the first place LLS? Sadly LLS BP is from Tonge so not really Albanian.

De Lacy Drive was torn down a while back and private housing was built on the land; it's now known as Brierwood.

It was in Tonge Moor. Bordered by Starkie Road, Ainsworth Lane and Entwistle Street.

The sadness felt at seeing a relative and black sheep of the family in the newspapers for benefit fraud, a professional scrounger who has never worked a day in his life. I am pleased to use him as an example of what not to be. And no I won't be forwarding a link.

Reason #79 to dislike living in the Middle East.
Mowing the lawn - The thermometer thingy says 33c in the shade. I was lured into the garden to mow the lawn (it badly needed doing). Once I'd pushed the mower beyond the shade of the tree I think the temperature tripled. Despite not being fair skinned I now resemble a beetroot. The humidity is 75% and I feel like I've lost about 20% body weight in sweat (no bad thing).
Reason #80 to dislike living in the Middle East.
Showers - Having mown the lawn and feeling like one of those boil in the bag fish in parsley sauce (remember them?) a nice cold shower was in order. But no such thing exists here in summer. Bastard hot water comes out of the cold tap and for some unknown reason Mrs AT had had the hot water on. Had she left the hot water off I would have at least had some warm (rather than hot) water

Ah, but you should thank her, as its scientifically proven that a hot shower cools you down more effectively than a cold one.

By 'they' you of course mean 'Nans'.

I meant old wives and their tales - is that the same as a Nan? Maybe urban legend is the more up to date term.Prufrock wrote:By 'they' you of course mean 'Nans'.

Been down to my house in Adlington as there are five viewings lined up for next week and lots needs doing after the tenant left last week. Walked in, hit the light switch........nothing. She's only gone and taken all of the fecking, b4starding light bulbs!!

Do you have any deposit due back to her ? Quadruple the cost at least.

Twelve quid later, I have light. So far, she's got less than a quarter of her deposit coming back, mainly due to her dog having taken two single bites out of the stair carpet on the middle tread. Whole carpet has to be replaced. I just don't get the lightbulb thing though. Unbelievable.

mother in law used to work for an estate agents. The stories of what people did to properties were staggering.Bijou Bob wrote:Twelve quid later, I have light.
