Re: Today I'm angry about.....
perhaps angry isn't the right word - but eughhhhh {shudder} would do it!
nice blast down to Sidmouth and back on the bike yesterday evening... but on the way back - warmish summer evening, through countryside - at 80MPH on the M5 - I hit a MASSIVE bug-cloud that spread itself over about 8miles... my visor looked like the aftermath of a horror film - and I literally had to move my head from side to side in order to see clearly between the dead bodies...
but that's not the bad bit... at 80MPH, peering through dead bodies, I felt a tickling by my ear - summat had hit my jacket lapel and been propelled up under the lip of my helmet.. summat crawly with legs and antennae... as I trolleyed along - twitching my head sideways to try to dislodge it - it crawled into my ear... eughhhhhhhh!!!

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

One for Pru:
Was on the train home yesterday when I heard this announcement 'Can those passengers who are alighting at Bolton please retain possession of their tickets as Revenue Enforcement Checks are being conducted at this station'.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
linking into Pru's fancy-talk fetish... summat I've noticed recently is the redundant addition of a "y" to words ending in "ence" that don't need it - like "he has displayed the necessary competencey". There *may* be limited and rareified situations where "competencey" might be allowable - but MOST OF THE TIME a simple competence will do. thankyou!
(I heard another one the other day in a discussion about MacKilroy choosing to play for Ireland in the next olympics... but I can't remember what the word was - it might have been residence...)

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
I had an interview yesterday which I was told was 'competency based'. I also had to answer questions in a 'STAR' format, I can't remember what the acronym was but that might suggest that I didn't follow it particularly closely.thebish wrote:linking into Pru's fancy-talk fetish... summat I've noticed recently is the redundant addition of a "y" to words ending in "ence" that don't need it - like "he has displayed the necessary competencey". aye - i have heard it used in business-management-wank-speak - they talk of "core competencies" - meaning things that you have to be cometent enough to do (key skillz!)

Yeah, that was it! Can't really say how it went, I've only had one interview before this and that was 6 and a half years ago.Bruce Rioja wrote:Situation, Task, Action, Result. You may now judge me.Beefheart wrote:

Not seen this elsewhere so...
Ian Wright isn't my favourite person, but what happened to his family is diabolical. Wife and child held at knife-point by four (I won't call them men) scrotes who threatened to cut the kids fingers off. Wright has had to fly home from Rio immediately. Oh, how I hope they catch these bxstards. It wouldn't be their fingers that needed cutting off.

Agreed, can't stand him but they all have my sympathy on this one. Really hope they're caught and properly punished. Causing that kind of terror to a family and kids should be a seriously long sentence.TANGODANCER wrote:Not seen this elsewhere so...

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
Yep, the fact their were 4 of them and I would think targeted the Wright family while Ian was abroad is disgraceful, the fact that they threatened his wife at knife point is a serious no no for me. I hope they are caught and they get a long stretch.LeverEnd wrote:Agreed, can't stand him but they all have my sympathy on this one. Really hope they're caught and properly punished. Is he still married to that one that football fans used to sing unpleasantries about?

First I thought, only 80, then I remembered your bikes on a speed par with my new cruiser, so I let you off a wimp rating.

happy to be a wimp! 80MPH on a bike is plenty fast enough for me! especially when I have an unidentified insect tunnelling into my brain!)

It's far to fast on a bike.thebish wrote:happy to be a wimp! 80MPH on a bike is plenty fast enough for me! especially when I have an unidentified insect tunnelling into my brain!)

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
i doubt coming off at 80MPH on a bike would be all that much different to coming off at 70MPH... equally dead!Gooner Girl wrote:It's far to fast on a bike.thebish wrote:happy to be a wimp! 80MPH on a bike is plenty fast enough for me! especially when I have an unidentified insect tunnelling into my brain!)Remember when you came off? Do you fancy that at 80mph?
