I might have put them in for the last 45 mins to try for a couple of quick wickets.
Exactly that. Never mind this 'let's hang on til so-and-so gets his ton'. Team game. We could've had their openers under pressure.
On a flat track with no front line spinner to face we don't have that luxury. Sri Lanka are well capable of knocking 300 plus if given a day plus.....
Surely even you wish we had declared a little earlier... even 15 minutes?

Might have helped but I stick by what I said. We made progress on e it started swinging. Which was later in the day today, before then we had little threat.

We'd have won if we played a proper front line spinner though.

Fine margins and all that.

I still say we should've chucked them in last night. Knackered after a day in the field + fading light. Cracking end to the game but we've let them off the hook on this one.

Shane Warne agrees with you too! I certainly see the argument. Boycott on about Cook being slow to get the field up too.

I still think it ridiculous to not pick one proper spinner on a traditionally flat track. Someone to try and break partnerships!

I see Lancs cocked-up good and proper yesterday, too.

Decent start from Khawaja and some support from Prince, but, FFS, why can't the rest bat?

Presumably Agathangelou and Wigan's Karl Brown will stay in the second XI for the foreseeable future.

Well, at least we always have our redoubtable test XI to restore our nation's pride.

Sri Lanka in to bat at Eddingley in what I imagine to be similar conditions to those at Lords.

I wonder what brainfarts Cooky's got lined up for us this time?!

Well, he's just turned down Broad's request for a review that would have seen the back of Silva, for starters.....

Just had it on in the car when I nipped to the butty shop. Sounded like some delivery, that did.

Site had it as: "a thunderously quick delivery that rips through Karunaratne's defences and tears leg stump out of the ground." Love it...

A rapid tail-end collapse leaves us on 365 all out. A bit of a skimpy lead after much promise. At lunch, Sri-Lanks 22-0.

Seems like our bowlers are having a painful afternoon. 164-2 current S.L. score.
