Re: Summer Holidays
Y'see, I understand the concept of not having a mudguard to save weight, but surely that much mud would probably weigh more than having mudguards and so defeats the object of not having them.

Re: Summer Holidays
mudguards are not aesthetically pleasing and obviously cool comes before functionality! but tbh mudguards wouldnt have worked - it was too thick, the gloop would have collected underneath and jammed the wheel. that happened enough without them!

Ah, cool. Not having any cool I nearly always misunderstand concepts like mudguards.
Where the feck were you anyway, precisely. My friends in Chamonix have hinted it's been a bit wet, but they haven't reported landslides...

Re: Summer Holidays
Did you spend any time in San Miguel, AH? Some years ago the company that I was working for at the time packed a few of us off to the wonderful, clifftop Hotel Hacienda Na Xamena for a long weekend as a thanks for a successful project that we'd managed to pull off. http://www.hotelhacienda-ibiza.com/en/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Always hopeful wrote:Just back from 2 weeks in Ibiza.
Not 2 weeks of clubbing and various other nocturnal activities enjoyed by the yoof of today, but spent with the family in an attempt to try and 'discover' this beautiful island.
Truth be told, it has lots of very nice beaches, a couple of 'Hippy Markets', and Ibiza town has an old walled area that's worth exploring, but other than that, there's not much there.
Nevertheless, we had a great time. Nice weather, nice food, good company and the fact that our kids are now 16 and 18, this was possibly the last holiday we'll ever have together as a family
Given the age we were at and the way our social lives revolved at the time we were wondering how the feck we were going to get from this 'stuffy' hotel on the wrong side of the island that they'd booked us into to San Antonio - and in particularly Es Paradis for a mental one.
As we arrived at the hotel, realised that we were in the lap of absolute luxury and in one of the most gorgeous settings that it's possible imagine we just spent the entire weekend chilling and being waited on hand and foot instead. I'd love to go back there but doubt I could afford to do it out of my own purse.

May the bridges I burn light your way

Re: Summer Holidays
Looks very nice, but no, we didn't spend any time in San Miguel. I'm sure there's quite a few places like this across the island. We certainly noticed that there was 'money' there. It's obviously a 'hip' place for the wealthy to spend some time.Bruce Rioja wrote:Did you spend any time in San Miguel, AH? Try buying a meal in the beach resturaunt at Es-Calvert, if you can get in for all the lovies and social wannabes.Bruce Rioja wrote:Did you spend any time in San Miguel, AH? Not been there for a while now but that was the 'in' place to be. (not very often tbh although the food was top drawer)

Ah, next valley north of Chamonix. I've been there a couple of times, some superb views of the Mont Blanc chain up on the ridges around there if I recall.General Mannerheim wrote:i was in Morzine, Porte du Soleil (my arse*) that Photo was around Bikepark Chatel.

Anyway, I'm hoping to walk up the Arse Cascade in a few weeks. Weather permitting.

Destination Marmaris Turkey this afternoon for a week. I'm hearing it's a tacky shithole but with hot sun, cold beer and 3 good mates, so can't go wrong. Might do a boat trip somewhere. Anyone been?

Re: Summer Holidays
Yeah. It is a tacky shithole. But I recently went with hot sun, cold beer and 3 good mates and we had a great time and that was right at the start of the season. There is a boat cruise with an open bar, and if you're sat by the pool people will come round to sell you tickets to that and various other activities, haggle if you're interested in any.LeverEnd wrote:Destination Marmaris Turkey this afternoon for a week. Re: Summer Holidays
I went on holiday to Marmaris a couple of years ago. It seemed OK to me although we went all inclusive so I would admit I didn't see that much of the town.LeverEnd wrote:Destination Marmaris Turkey this afternoon for a week. The boat trips are definitely well recommended as you will get a better idea of how beautiful that part of Turkey is. The boat we went on was the 'Mega Diana'. We enjoyed it that much we had a second trip on the last day of the holiday. Recommended.

We missed our boat trip due to getting in at 6am, but it looked good from the pictures.malcd1 wrote:I went on holiday to Marmaris a couple of years ago.
