Hmmmmm. Hmmmmmmmmm. The former Mrs Rioja's been on. Wants to discuss something with me. I might open a book on what it is that she wants to discuss. 100 - 1 on that she needs some money for something. As ever, she won't be fecking getting any, like, but it doesn't stop her from reappearing every 4 or 5 years or so and sounding me out for some. I really don't need the mither.

You ARE going to keep us updated, aren't you !!

She could pop around this evening during the final half dozen holes on the Wirral. That would get your fullest attention.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Could you (would you? ) still nail her for old times sake and say on the promise of a few hundred quid? Then tell her you've remembered you're skint afterwards

Talk of 24 hour news in the other thread reminded of one of BBC News' main lunch-time stories today. Now, maybe it's me, but I think the only thing I care about less than news that Tulisa from N-Dubz is doing drugs is the apparent 'news' that Tulisa from N-Dubz wasn't, in fact, doing drugs.

...well I'm quite happy that you're neither happy nor angry about Tulisa from N-Dubz not doing drugs because if you weren't I wouldn't have learnt that she was from N-Dubz as I didn't know that fact and I was under severe pressure to discover something I didn't know in order to fullfil the adage that one learns something new everyday because before you posted that snippet of information everything else I'd come across today I already knew. :D
That's not a leopard!

Aye, got to love commentisfree though for some of the cringey cry-wolf shit that comes out of it. From a similar school...

I've got a bad neck. A very bad neck as it happens, so bad in fact my GP signed me off for three weeks until this Friday. Feeling a tad better after a hospital visit last week, I went back to work yesterday. At least, I tried to. HR told me I had to go home and not to return unless I had a fitness to work certificate. My GP pointed out the fact that the fitness to work certificate has no section on which they can state I am now fit to work. Ergo, I had to "Go home and enjoy the sunshine". You really couldn't make it up.

... & this Is the NHS !!

You DO need a fit-for-work cert, especially after an injury. But between you & the doctor you can agree you're mended and then in a difficult case the Company may need to have their Occy Health person agree also. Given you're in the NHS that shouldn't prove too difficult.

HR is a gaggle of well-dressed, well made-up, group-huggie, "win-win", bimbo's with zero commercial acumen who no-one actually knows what they do and are over-fond of putting off decisions whilst doing a good "computer say no !" impression I guess.

I remember those balmy (not barmy) annual-assessment free days when you had a working boss who actually knew what your value was because he was there with you constantly, not forever "in a meeting" shaking tree to see what fell out . Then along came this (dazzlingly attractive it must be said) young lady (who later married the C.E.O.after his divorce) straight out of college and instituted loads of new ideas designed to confuse everybody and get the job taking twice as long as it should. Assessment time was an absolute nightmare.

"No, you can't give him/her a rating of 5, that won't leave any room for improvement in the coming year"
"But they've done an excellent job and deserve a five!"
"No, can't do that, 3.5 possibly, four if they've shown massive future potential"
Eventually you and your boss just agreed on 3.5 to get it over with......and they had you by the bollox. The crunch came when those in power decided if everybody improved a point they could probably make somebody redundant.
