Yes, they can pay cash instead of you having to take your holidays if that's the preference. Otherwise people are taking holiday possibly inconvenient for them &/or the company. Quite standard and proper.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

It's grand ain't it. I get three month minimum.Bruce Rioja wrote:Twice I've been put on gardening leave when I've handed my notice in. Month off on full pay, Sir? Oh I don't mind if I do.

Except once when my boss said "Not worth worry about him. He's already got anything he might need" - that's mates for you.

I've often struggled with that one. Any unprincipled person worth their salt will already have done the bad things before the notice goes in.Worthy4England wrote:It's grand ain't it. But at lower levels vandalism, theft, rudeness, lack of care or motivation can happen and they think there's no come back.

It's not "doing bad things" - well not for me anyhow. Never know when you might make a return trip.bobo the clown wrote:I've often struggled with that one. They're more worried I might give intel to a competitor - stuff I'd have in my normal course of business - or stuff that I might not generally need, but have access to.

Reality is that you can't have your mind wiped. You know what you know. Deliberately transferring knowledge which is sensitive is obviously bad, but some stuff is just part of you.

I use No. 18, but loudly and deliberately.

May the bridges I burn light your way

On that topic, I like to say 'Jizz' whenever anyone holds a door open for me. No matter how loudly or clearly you say it people's brains just hear what they expect to hear.
It makes me laugh, anyway.

So ... I'm about to rent out my mother's house. I'm clearing it .... & of course finding all sorts including 100th old death certificates, a giant book on the Tolpuddle Martyrs (anyone want it ?).any nd .... my dad's spare glass eye.
What to do with it, that's the question.

Stick it to the bedroom ceiling, looking down at the bed. Your tenants will love it, I'm sure.

I can't believe that a giant book on the Tolpuddle Martyrs would not be amongst your proudest possessions.bobo the clown wrote:So ... I'm about to rent out my mother's house. But if it needs a good home you might consider offering it to the archive and study centre of the Peoples History Museum in Manchester.

If it was signed by each and every one of them I'd still be giving it away Billy.
Some other oddities of Bolton memorabilia as well as a good amount of Papist stuff.

If any of this stuff has historic or actual value it can presumably be donated to an educational institution for which you might get a tax receipt. Well, you would here. Even a single book can have significant value.bobo the clown wrote:So ... I'm about to rent out my mother's house. Went into marks and sparks the other week, when my wife was wandering around, I made a couple of rude words out of the 'alphabet' mugs on the display shelves in the homewear dept. Went in this w/end; some jobsworth has removed all the E's and I's. B astards
