Oh Hum, although I agree with this I just wonder how it sits with the liberals, kill folk to save folk, all life is sacred.
Well there are thousands upon thousands of innocent people trapped on a mountain. And aggresors below who want to kill them. So I think force if directed properly is justified. But thankfully Obama isn't Hoboh and is talking about appropriate targeted force rather than nuking millions of innocent people to death to get rid of a few not-rights.

So I'm fairly content with the approach outlined.
So you'd kill to protect?
Now, why should your opinion on what is justifiable be any more valid than hoboh's approach (leaving the nuke option on one side because its not really a starter).
I'd kill aggressors or terrorists to protect innocent people yes. I wouldn't kill innocent people to protect innocent people. Because a) that is stupid and b) I think it just makes things worse.

I accept that sometimes innocent people will end up in the crossfire but I'd certainly do all I could to ensure any absolutely necessary strikes were "targeted".

Just that some people think swating a fly is a crime and we are led to think the guy upstairs don't believe in an eye for an eye well not in the modern way of interpretation of the scriptures

"eye for an eye" was, actually, an act of moderation... (though we think of it as the opposite) the intention was to LIMIT the retaliation to a reciprocation of the loss you had yourself incurred and that being an end to it, as opposed to beginning a feud that would last generations... of course, what Jesus said went MUCH further...

but - what do you mean by the word "sacred" - what do you mean when you say that all life is "sacred"?

The Times has it correct with today's headline "Wars of religion". I even like how they didn't capitalise 'religion'. Nothing to do with land and all about which god has the bigger bollocks. At the moment allah has enormous knackers...

... but even the Times hedges its bets with Islamists intent on slaughtering Yazidis and Christians. Surely to retain some balance here that would be Yazidists and Christianists!

Thanks for clearing that up. There was I, all these years, thinking that the argument had all been about Jews building a state on a great deal of Palestinian land, and that Palestinians kinda resented that a bit and spent a great deal of time arguing about it - sometimes with guns. Silly me - they'd all been lying for over sixty years. It was all to do with the size of God's bollocks.

Jews building a state on Muslim land. Jews were Palestinian too you know... Oh, sorry, of course you forgot that.
Because lets face it, if some Muslim people had been settled there by the will of the United Nations of course Iran and the fckin Arab world would have been as equally hostile...
I think not...
But I wouldn't worry too much, the Caliphate has arrived, Jordan and the Palestinians will just be a footnote in the clash yet to come.

So it's just the fault of those nasty Israelis then?

Just as aside I see ISIS is moving into Lebanon now, expect Israeli action there too.

In antiquity, perhaps, but even in 1948 over 60% of the Jewish population had been born outside Israel. And most Israelis now remain born outside the country - especially given the huge influx of Russian migrants post-soviet Union. more than one million.

Israel is a settler nation, whose settlers are hungry for land.

In 1948 there were nearly three million Jews in New York City (now it is less than two million), while the Jewish population of Israel was 650,000. JSL.

I, for one, won't be taking sides here.
The government has announced that a team of 15 NHS staff is to go to Gaza. The people hosting them? Medical Aid for Palestinians.

Presumably they are being paid a salary by the NHS. However fair play to them for putting themselves in harm's way for others.
