Re: Lennon announced on Offish site
Interesting that it's a one year rolling contract. I wonder who's choice that was, Lennons or the clubs?
Who's that coming up the hill boys,
The Wanderers are coming up the hill boys,
They all laugh at us, they all mock at us,
They all say our days are numbered,
Born to be a Wanderer, victorious are we....

Based on the success of the last four appointees I can't get too worked up about him.Bruce Rioja wrote:Is there only me that has absolutely no feelings or opinion on the appointment of Lennon?

Re: Lennon announced on Offish site
I'm pleased we went for a rolling contract, probably suits both parties. It means there's the possibility of him having a blinding half-season and leaving cheaply to somewhere with more money... but that's an incentive to have a blinding half-season (or more)! If that was the case and we needed to find a new manager it probably wouldn't be that bad a situation because we'd have had a blinding half-a-season. So then you get a caretaker in to not rock the boat too much and all of a sudden you're back in the land of opportunity, ala Palace with Freedman/Holloway. So, in my eyes the best-case scenario is pretty good and the worst case scenario isn't as bad as it'd be with a 3-and-a-half-year deal.scotty wrote:Interesting that it's a one year rolling contract. I'll be going back to pessimism shortly!
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

Indeed, Sir. I felt equally as ambivalent when young Douglas was appointed. I guess I'm still annoyed with myself for having got all giddy when :negative: was replaced by Coyle.Little Green Man wrote:Based on the success of the last four appointees I can't get too worked up about him.Bruce Rioja wrote:Is there only me that has absolutely no feelings or opinion on the appointment of Lennon?

I like the appointment of Lennon over the other candidates, especially the rolling contract.

Yeah, but this place is free. Some people ring premium rate numbers to register their indecision.

He made it very clear he didn't consider it a step down, described us as a grass club with great traditions. Said he wasn't asking for lots of money, likes the squad and is looking forward to working with the players that are here now. Ałso mentioned bringing a style of play the fans would like and he's really excited to get started. No hint of it being a step down fir him. Csme across as humble but very enthusiastic about managing the club. Can't wait to get to Birmingham now!enrdentw wrote:Did anyone hear the interview with NL?

Interesting also, was the fact Iles said on Twitter Freedman had the same deal. I wonder at which point he signed a new one, given his original deal was for 2 1/2 years. Means it would've cost us more to get rid in any case.scotty wrote:Interesting that it's a one year rolling contract. I wonder who's choice that was, Lennons or the clubs?
I think rolling contacts are pretty common these days and by far the most logical option for managers and clubs on the whole.
Very happy with Lennon, and think he's by far the most exciting of the mooted contenders. Suspect it might be a short stay, but if he gets us out of the shit he can leave with my blessing.
Probably the most exciting day for the club since we won that FA Cup QF.

Is that specific to Lennon, Brucie, or would that have applied to any on the alleged list? What sort of appointment would have made you impressed?Bruce Rioja wrote:Is there only me that has absolutely no feelings or opinion on the appointment of Lennon?

I hope he's an unqualified triumph and when he moves on we're in a far better position then when he arrived (hopefully with a Swansea-style plan for managerial succession in place).
