From that view, Bank Street has not changed one bit. The only difference is the large building at the very top left hand corner is no longer there. I would guess that there was a building on the open car park facing Bank Street Taxi's but that is just out of view.Bruce Rioja wrote:Well, had someone crashed into it in one of these then I doubt it'd have been the pub coming off worse (Pic borrowed from Bygone Bolton on FB)

On behalf of Jaguar Land-Rover may I say "we are very proud".
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

It looks like the driver of the car just coming into the picture on the left side of the image might have already tried it, Bruce.

boggle-eyed norah!!!
I am on the verge of switching bank accounts - first time in quite a number of years...
it's driving me mad!! trying to get a sensible comparison of what's on offer when some offer interest pegged to the amount you have in the bank (eg - santander123) - some offer no interest at all but DO give a joining cash incentive (First Direct) - some charge a fee - but waive it as long as you have another of their products or pay in a certain amount per month - some offer a bewildering array of "cashback" options on bills paid through the account... some seem to have ace customer service, some score worse than Ed Milliband... some have secret club savings accounts with good interest - but only for those who have current accounts also... some charge you a fee if you don't pay in a certain amount every month... arrrghhhhhhh!!!!!

good plan! if the sock gets full enough, maybe I could also use it as an overdraught-excluder?Worthy4England wrote:Just keep it in a sock, under the bed, like most other folks do.thebish wrote:boggle-eyed norah!!!

Re: General Chit Chat
I've recently gone through the same hoops, thebish, with respect to my investments. Bloomin' confusing and almost impossible to calculate a fair comparison. Good luck with the exercise.

I think I have made my mind up now - but am hesitating before pressing the button - largely because I think I should probably withdraw a large wad of cash to tide me over should summat go wrong!Dujon wrote:I've recently gone through the same hoops, thebish, with respect to my investments. over here there is a new scheme that banks sign up for where it is all supposed to happen seamlessly and automatically in 7 working days... fingers crossed!

Home owners should all be allowed to store AK-47's, the little nice people would have known about it if they'd done that in the USA.

What, like the regular egging and toilet papering American teens do on Halloween? Don't seem to remember any instances of them getting shot.Hoboh wrote:A little bit nearer home

It's tradition there, not here. If it wasn't in the US the body count would far exceed anything ISIS could come up with, besides I'd suggest you tried it in some states.Beefheart wrote:What, like the regular egging and toilet papering American teens do on Halloween? In 2010, guns took the lives of 31,076 Americans in homicides, suicides and unintentional shootings. This is the equivalent of more than 85 deaths each day and more than three deaths each hour.
73,505 Americans were treated in hospital emergency departments for non-fatal gunshot wounds in 2010.
Firearms were the third-leading cause of injury-related deaths nationwide in 2010, following poisoning and motor vehicle accidents.
Between 1955 and 1975, the Vietnam War killed over 58,000 American soldiers – less than the number of civilians killed with guns in the U.S. in an average two-year period.
In the first seven years of the U.S.-Iraq War, over 4,400 American soldiers were killed. Almost as many civilians are killed with guns in the U.S., however, every seven weeks.
Re: General Chit Chat
yes hoboh - but none of that is chasing down kids who threw eggs and killing them with an AK-47... I do not believe that more egg-throwing kids would be gunned down by American householders than ISIS have killed. do you? really?
