A driver here had a bad day just a couple of hours ago. He rear-ended a stalled truck on an elevated expressway and couldn't open his door. So he climbed out of the window, went over the railing and fell 60' to the road below. Still alive but in critical condition. http://www.cjad.com/cjad-news/2015/06/2 ... expressway" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Bruce Rioja wrote:Bizarre. Just drove back into Bolton from Manchester and there was a bloke walking southbound between the two carriageways of the northbound side. Just staring at the horizon and walking towards it. Hope he's OK.

Not angry. Not happy. I'm just at the point of 'why the feck do I agree to do stupid things whilst drunk'?
Having supped quite a few pints last night, I was chatting with a former colleague who is also a dance teacher. She brought up the subject of the 'Strictly Come Dancing' type competition that her dance school arranges each year in aid of Bolton Hospice. Feeling brave (pissed) I volunteered to take part.
The event is to be held next March in front of a paying audience at the Macron. Part of me (10%) quite fancies doing it for some bizarre reason. The other 90% of me is shit scared and wondering wtf have I done? I can't go back on my word, can I?
If anyone does genuinely fancy having a go, let me know and i'll put your name forward. Please???!!!! You get 10 weeks of free tuition to set you on your way, if that helps.
I know someone that did it last year. He said that it was the best thing that he's ever done. That's something to cling onto. Isn't it?

Get in there B.P, you'll just love it.. I'm past it now, but dance is marvelous, I've had a life of it including three years of Spanish dance classes. You'll absolutely love itBurnden Paddock wrote:Not angry. Not happy. I'm just at the point of 'why the feck do I agree to do stupid things whilst drunk'?

I guess there are some relatively honourable ways to get out of it. When someone says 'break a leg' just go and do it. Or go to help Doctors without borders and pick up some nasty but treatable African fever. Or just go with your 10%, have a few more drinks and enjoy it (even if the audience doesn't).Burnden Paddock wrote:Not angry. Not happy. Just put your foot down early about the sequins and spray tan, B.P. This is a football website after all and you're going to get slaughtered.

Go for it BP. I bet like TD says, you'll end up really enjoying it. It'll be a great experience and free dance lessons aren't to be sniffed at. With any luck you'll be really good at it. From a purely selfish point of view I'm hoping you aren't, so we can all have a good laugh when you make your debut and make Jon Sargent look like John Travolta!!!
It could be the best thing we get to see at the Macron this coming year

Thank you for your caring and supporting messages. In particular HG for his amazing suggestion that I may make John Sargent look like John Travolta. That was a genuine lol moment!
Not decided yet if I am definitely going to go through with it. If I do, I will create a separate thread which will act as a sort of blog, as I go through lessons etc. This is conditional on you bloody lot chipping in to help out the chosen charity.
This will be about me having an experience that I hope will be amazing, providing me with lots of laughs and no doubt entertaining the rest of you along the way. You're all welcome to come along on the evening and SUPPORT. Heckles will be frowned upon. By me! Even from forummers in ridiculously bad shirts.
There's still plenty of places still available (to replace me). TD you can do it. Don't you fancy getting to grips with a young filly? You know you want to!!

Men should stop disco dancing when it becomes dad-dancing (uncle knobhead at the weedding stuff, usually about fifty, max). Ballroom stuff can go on forever, but even that at almost seventy six doesn't go beyond a zither-shuffle with the wife. You're young enough for the strumpet-strangling stuff easily. (It really is big fun). Get in there, you won't be sorry.Burnden Paddock wrote:

Re: Today I'm neither Angry nor Happy about....
Today I'm puzzled, flummoxed and confused. To be honest I wouldn't have thought it possible - but it happened. There's a Sydney Rugby Union competition during winter, my 'local' team, Penrith Emus, yesterday played Eastwood. This is a First Grade comp. with the next level being the Super 15s (or whatever they call it these days). Eastwood, by the way, is one of those teams always expected to vying for end of season honours. Penrith isn't. The score at the final whistle was 454-0. Yes, you read that correctly, 454-0. There are only eighty minutes playing time in R.U. so that equates to a little over 5½ points per minute!
Oh, yes, Penrith was the scoreless team.

It does tend to boggle the mind, Dujon, and Eastwood may be considered to have run up the score somewhat unnecessarily. I think I might have found the problem. I checked their team photo on their website.Dujon wrote:Today I'm puzzled, flummoxed and confused. To be honest I wouldn't have thought it possible - but it happened. They are only playing with 14 players!

After a little investigation, it appears that it's a combined scoreline across four different matches between the teams (first grade, second grade, third grade and fourth grade).Dujon wrote:Today I'm puzzled, flummoxed and confused. So it's bad, but not quite as bad as the headlines have made out.
