Lots of bowlers saying that is probably Jimmy's ashes over with. Hope not, but opinion seems fairly universal that it is likely an intercostal that will rule him out for several weeks.

oh feck... just as I was starting to get optimistic... we're not the same threat without him - not even close...BWFC_Insane wrote:Lots of bowlers saying that is probably Jimmy's ashes over with. it says summat, though, listening to it as I drove up to bradford and back these last two days - that I found myself feeling slightly annoyed that we didn't beat them within 2 days!!

Re: 2015 Ashes
Huge blow if he's out. As you say our best bowler by some distance. When it happened I thought immediately of McGrath stepping on the ball in 2005. Turned that series and this could be similar. However Finn has certainly found a rich vein of form. And Broad has bowled better than his figures suggest so far.thebish wrote:oh feck... just as I was starting to get optimistic... we're not the same threat without him - not even close...BWFC_Insane wrote:Lots of bowlers saying that is probably Jimmy's ashes over with. He is our best bowler, of course, but our attack is very, very decent just now. The re-emergence of the "unselectable" Steve Finn is an absolute breath of fresh air. We'll be reet.BWFC_Insane wrote:Huge blow if he's out. As you say our best bowler by some distance. When it happened I thought immediately of McGrath stepping on the ball in 2005. Aye. Jimmy brings that ultimate craft and control, but Finn at his best, is probably more threatening on a flat surface. It is good to have more options.Bruce Rioja wrote:He is our best bowler, of course, but our attack is very, very decent just now. Indeed, but that said, I've just learned that Trent Bridge is Jimmy's favourite track. Still, they've both done well at Edgbaston.BWFC_Insane wrote: Aye. By the way, as an aside, what's the rule on getting your money back if you've shelled out on tickets for today? Is it 'so many' overs bowled? Aggers was saying last night that one of his mates has spent something like £8K on a bunch of tickets.

If it's like it used to be then so much as one ball bowled and it's gone.
It used to be a risk buying 5th day tickets. 3rd day is a tad unfortunate.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I think it is ratcheted. You get a certain amount back if play is reduced. But that is when weather hits, not sure about an early result.bobo the clown wrote:If it's like it used to be then so much as one ball bowled and it's gone.

They should be made to play a couple of one day games as compensation.thebish wrote:yeah - bastarding england team (possibly) winning in under 2 and a half days! how very fecking dare they!!
The sponsors will be livid. In fact Adam & Charlie AND Ian from the Archers are due there today and I suspect hanky-panky behind a Champagne marquee.

Re: 2015 Ashes
Superb figures from the unselectable Finn. It concerns me that Giles is now driving a coach and horses through our home county side. Does he actually know what he's doing?
Finn 20.0 Overs, 3 Maidens, 78 for 6.

It's a nice day to bat and the lead is creeping up.
One wicket to get.
