Re: 2015 Ashes
Living through the day with The Guardian's commentary (which is pretty good any how), I'm now getting ready to make a big hot mug of tea and an almond round before purring with delight at a full hour of Channel 5 highlights and a Root master class.

The perfect day for England. Don't think it gets any better than that.

What a contrast in styles: Joe Root, bat on the deck, watching like a hawk. Johnny Bairstowe, bat on his shoulder, for all the world like Morgyn the mighty with Clicky-ba.
Great show from both. What a cracking day's cricket.

Re: 2015 Ashes
Sky showed one of these thingies whereby it showed the point at which the Aussies made contact with the ball and where Joe Root did. The Aussies pretty much came forward onto everything whereas Root played off of the back foot and dealt with everything as it came to him. Aussies 60 all out. Root 100+ odd not out.TANGODANCER wrote:What a contrast in styles: Joe Root, bat on the deck, watching like a hawk. I've just watched the highlights and I'm not having it that the delivery that got Bell out was hitting leg stump.

Ahem...that could be the difference at the end

Though I feel this could be Gareth Farrelly's deflection all over again.

Re: 2015 Ashes
I really expected a not-out. It was a cracking delivery, but the appeal was for L.B.W...and it just wasn't. Umpire got it wrong. It happens but it was harsh on Bell.Nicko58 wrote:I've just watched the highlights and I'm not having it that the delivery that got Bell out was hitting leg stump.

Thanks - that worked well. It looked like the whole team was playing in the slips at times.KeyserSoze wrote:wickets with aussie commentary (and bumble and vaughn too)

Re: 2015 Ashes
Oh, I say, chaps, what a jolly old day was yesterday's visit to the green swards of England. Well, it was for one of the teams. As a strictly neutral observer in thes titanic struggles (thanks, Monty) for the 'possession' of the wee urn I was astounded to turn on my little bed-side -radio (I'd been reading and had forgotten about the cricket) to find that England was 0 for 13 runs - or something similar - at lunch ,which brought forth the inevitable unvoiced comment "Bloomin' rain".
I was disabused of that idea rather sharply when the commentators finally reverted to informing their listeners of the true situation. It seems that it's all been said, so there is little I can add is there?
My apologies are offered for this delayed response. A preordained appointment with an eye specialist got in the way.
