Portsmouth away, 4th August

You can't tell anything till Burnley. This could be symptomatic of a malaise within the club or just a complete irrelevance. We had terrible pre seasons under Allardyce a couple of times and great seasons after.

Wait and see.

Obviously a tactic to make the opposition think we're easy meat.

It's the same mistakes, I don't care if this is pre-season , we probably played our best team and we are losing 3-0 to a team who bearly exist. Two weeks until first league is usually just fine tuning but we seem to have a long way to go

Same here.... We're two weeks from the season and we've not really played well at all.... we're struggling to score goals and we're leaking goals from everywhere.... and no of the teams we've played have anywhere near the quality they have in the championship

But who will care once the season starts? Is there a correlation between pre season results and success?

We can answer that after the first 3 games

I cut him slack till the Wiggin home game & then would happily have had him kidnapped & dropped off a bridge after that.

He's here still & so I can only want him out if we have a poor run ... which could doom us, so I HAVE to want him to get it right.

Unfortunately I don't think think that him getting it right will occur.

Its not so much the losing and the drawing that concerns me. Its the performance that really counts, and so far we have been shocking.

Very worried

Just on the train back from Portsmouth, I'll leave the indepth analysis to pirate and thebish as I'd rather not have people slating me as an opposition fan for saying your team played rubbish (though they did...)

Suffice to say, other then the football result, had a lovely time meeting the pirate (disappointed no peg leg or parrot) and his lovely, adorable son (who guessed my age at 21! :D)

Kevin Davies has piled on the pounds and Bogdan looked like he had been seriously sunburnt on holiday (lobster red not a great look with orange hair, orange kit and pink boots) afobe looked bright, though should have scored with one chance...

Coyle: "When you come onto the pitch wearing a Bolton Wanderers shirt you have to be ready. We didn't do ourselves justice."

Clearly we haven't been wearing a Bolton Wanderers shirt for a few seasons now.

That's not actually true really, is it?

You can tell if you look joined up as a team, you can tell that you've been beaten 3-0, you can tell if some players are looking sharp or not, you can tell if player Y is linking up with player Z.

You might not be able to use it as an indication as to how you're going to do in the first game of the season. But if you "can't tell anything" there's little point in bothering with pre-season friendlies. I don't buy this bollocks it's ALL about match fitness, but if it is, can someone tell me who saw today's game, if we're looking like match fit?

A few weeks ago I was really looking forward to the start of the season, a real feeling of optimism despite being in the championship. We've been through enough pre-seasons over the years to not read too much into them but somehow this one feels really crap, what the friggin hell is going on at the Reebok?

Don't know what to think really, not sure whether to turn up for the home friendly if it's going to be another shambles, I was going to - but might as well save my disappointments for the league. I think I need a drink, ha ha!

No, I've thought about it again, we'll be reet
