With all due respect, we haven't seen any evidence of the actual sale, what the sale price was - and most pertinently under the circumstances - who was actually prepared to meet our asking price, considering that if they don't purchase it now they'll probably get it cheaper. It is us who is under pressure to sell, not others under pressure to buy.
True. Some sort of deal was done, we know that because the club confirmed it. What it was and how much as you say, is unknown.

All we have is Lennon said the money raised from that deal was enough to pay the bills and get through till the end of the season though one might question whether he knows any more than you or I in reality.
About what? Defensive formations? :D

We don't know if any actual cash has been generated by any of the actual deals that have been actually done or whether it has just generated a small amount of liquidity that will enable us to continue in business if we can persuade the court on Monday not to go ahead with a winding up order.
We had to apply to the court to be allowed to buy back a portion of land to enable the sale of the car park in some sort of deal for a future property joint venture development. £6m was mentioned but is that money that's been trousered now? Or is that a fund release scheme? And will it cost in the long run, as in more funding required along the way as the joint venture development proceeds? We don't know.
Plus this proposed sale to Wigan of Euxton. all sounds good and proper with us pocketing wads of notes. And yet, is that again a fund release? do Wigan pay in installments as we stay training there till the end of the season? Also in the long run, a lot of the sale money will be eaten up by having to further develop Lostock to accomodate first team training. That will require buildings etc (and buildings cost money - especially when that building work will need to commence and finish in the short space of time we will still be occupying Euxton. (You could call that the Lostock and one smoking barrel conundrum).

I've heard that Euxton is light years ahead in terms of facilities compared to Lostock. Also compared to other local teams training facilities.

Considering the effort that went into developing Euxton during the Allardyce years it seems a shame to lose that progress, considering Lostock is nowhere near at that stage yet. Needs must and all that, but for me if the club are selling a major asset off like that I'd like some explanation and justification for it.

I realise I'm pissing into the wind here but there we are....

I would imagine the both the explanation and justification is because it's a saleable asset that retains value even in a buyers market, and we need the funds to survive as a business.

Seems to be the most plausible answer.

Personally, I think there will be two options that will play out here. Either we'll relocate wholesale to Lostock. Or we'll relocate wholesale to Euxton. There is a third option, but its basically summed up as "we're f*cked".

Well that may be true. The timing seems odd given supposedly the takeover is moving forwards.

Also we haven't got a clue whether there is enough in the pot or not to survive till a takeover happens. The only suggestion we've had is that there is. Is the money from the sale going back to the club or into Eddie's pocket?

I dunno. No actual information about any of them in terms of their bids Without which I couldn't tell you who I'd prefer.
Aye that is what I'm saying. Not sure Eddie can easily unpick it either. Whoever puts most down probably....
Yes - but I couldn't have recommended Sports Shield either on the same basis. :-)

The asset thing - what if the conversation is running like this....

Us: "You can have the operation for a quid"

Them: "Great"

Us: "But you're not allowed to come in and mortgage"

Them: "Fine we don't need to (snigger, soon as we have 100% control it won't matter)"

Us: "Oh btw, we just sold a couple of those assets you don't need...."

Sports Shield have been around the longest (of the 3 main contenders) have been working on a deal since November and as far as we know were the first to put money down.

If the Billionaire is now proposing something better with more money behind it, then that changes things. But of course the only snippet we've heard (which may or may not be true) is that his proposed takeover is very similar in structure to sports shield in terms of it relies on the mortgaging of assets.

This.

Regarding the facilities - it is indeed light years ahead of both Wigan and Preston. Wigan's training ground is practically a Portakabin in the middle of a fenced off field.

What puzzles me is that ED stated that he wanted to "preserve the legacy of PG" - well surely the development and upgrading of the training ground is part of PG's legacy. Selling it off must be a last resort.

I've always liked our training ground. Looks really good on SSN and players past and present rave about the facilities - I would be sad to see us lose it...

Well I'm not being funny or anything but us having facilities light years ahead has not helped us move forward one little bit. In fact we've clearly been moving backwards for years.

So what's the point?

Some nice flat grass. Some buildings. Some equipment. Some people... whataya got? - a training facility.
So sell the grass and the buildings. Take the people and the equipment and transport them a few miles to a resettlement camp. Build some new buildings next to the flat bits of grass we already have at Lostock. Move the people with their equipment out of the resettlement camp and into the new buildings by the old flat grass of Lostock, and Hey whattaya got now? A training facility, plus academy, all within one site. Jobs a good 'un.

I get what you are saying and I agree. If the club was my business it would be the right thing to do. It will reduce overhead costs and may give us an extra bit of cash once the development has finished in Lostock.

I will just miss that lovely brick wall at Euxton
