I'm really looking forward to seeing us at full strength under Lennon. For me, Mills, Pratley, and both Mark and Craig Davies would all go into our starting 11 when fit and that'll make a big difference to the performances. Mills is a loss at centre back and whilst I like Wheater, he's been out for a while and our defence suffers for it.

There's lots to like about today's performance. A loss hurts, of course, but that was about as much a confidence booster as you'll get after a defeat. It was a good performance on the whole.

Danns wasn't great, but he's being asked to do a nigh on impossible job. He's trying to put up a fight in midfield with only two flaky wingers and two 5ft tippy tappy types for company.

I don't care what went on previously, the Pratley under Freedman is a far cry from the Pratley of the last few months.

We're a far more open side without him in the team and his presence was missed today in my opinion, however hard that is for you to believe.

I have always championed Pratley you nobber. All of a sudden those who previously thought he was a bit shit now think we are a worse team without him. Re read what I have written.

As far as I can see it was I who dared to suggest that we are worse off without him, no one else, and I hadn't passed judgement on him before now.

long may all the optimism about next season last - and the mythical day when every player is fit - but there's a fair chunk of THIS season to get through yet! scoring 3 goals at home and yet coming away with no points at all is not (in my book) the greatest foundation for hope! I, for one, will be glad when this "blip" of shipping goals has blipped off! Lenny needs to sort it...

At the end of the day, the difference between a barely mid-table side and vaunted promotion candidates was a last minute goal, some good goalkeeping from both sides and a bit of lady luck, oh, and three points, and certainly one, that could so easily have been ours instead of theirs. I haven't enjoyed watching a game that much for ages.

Great game, but we really need to stop letting 4 in. Won't win many doing that. If I get chance, I'll post Danns' opta stats tomorrow. Don't think he compares too badly generally on pass accuracy...

He's possibly ok with 5 yard backwards or sideways passes which is why his stats may be decent - but I can't recall one single positive contribution today, he wasn't bad in the initial few game under NL - but personally apart from a spell 2nd half against Fulham he's been very poor for half a dozen games now - and IMO simply not deserving of a place at the moment he's a liability, it was possibly one of the worst individual performances I can recall in recent times, nothing to do with our shape, tactics or missing Pratley he just continually fell over or lost control of the ball or was caught on the ball by 3 or 4 Watford players at the same time - his awareness of space & his team mates was terrible he really did have yet another shocker - I've said it for months he's far to inconsistent having 1 good game in 3 or 4.

I would have to see the highlights , but from memory did he not lose the ball or get over run 'for the 10th time' in the lead up to their winner ?

I don't think he was at his best yesterday. Lennon actually talks about the last goal in his post match. He doesn't talk about Danns getting run over for the 10th time, he does quite correctly point out that we still had a four against two advantage (it's actually 5 players we had back and the GK). But Lennon's comment that none of them attacked the ball is quite valid - they just backed off and off. Very Poor.

The more Vela plays as a full back, the less he looks like a full back.

The defence is way to frail at the minute. 15 goals in the last 5 league games isn't all down to Danns (or Trotter for that matter).

On the evidence of yesterday, I question whether Craig Davies would be an automatic starter. He misses too many chances and has no pace. Le Fondre and Clough were so dynamic yesterday and they can both finish.

That's where I was at - couldn't see him being an automatic starter - but probably offers more as a target man If we're stifled in MF.

Yeah, I think we'd have more control over games with Craig Davies up front instead of Clough. I thought Clough was really impressive yesterday too but we'll hang on to leads better with a striker like Davies, who can hold the ball up front more effectively and kill the momentum the opposition are building. For me, Clough is the perfect option on the counter attack so I think his best role right now would be replacing Le Fondre after 60/70 minutes or so, but he's still young and I'd prefer to go with a Davies/Alfie partnership with Clough being the first choice option from the bench.

Well done to Feeney, whom some seem to see as unfit to use as firewood, for playing in three positions and providing three assists.

I feared afore the game that playing Danns/Bannan and two wingers might leave us a bit floppy in midfield. I assume the HT switch was to get Vela in there and stiffen up, a welcome tactical awareness and flexibility. Shame we lost but plenty good to go on.

See, I think the switch was made because their winger (Abdi?) was absolutely pissing it past Vela, so he moved Jenko there to keep up with him, which would also explain why he then put Feeney there. Either way, it didn't work, but I reckon that that's what he was thinking.

I'm intrigued wondering who the "seek employment elsewhere" comments were aimed at? Going through the team (I can only remember seeing him have a rant at Clough for not passing sideways instead of shooting, and it surely can't be him) it seems hard to nail anybody who deserves that much stick.I did think Janko seemed to fall off and lose some enthusiasm, later on,and Vela didn't over-sparkle, but that apart any mistakes just seemed the norm in a high octane game like that. Any ideas? .....

IMO possibly Dervite, Ream, Wheater & Danns....

The thing is though is that he's had great things to say about all those players in recent times as well... I wonder if he's a bit annoyed at Danns at the moment as he has cost us in the Liverpool game as well as just playing poorly in recent league games.
