He's the bloke that looks a bit like Bruce's fittie dental nurse. Obviously. Although I'm not claiming that Bruce fancies him in any way of course. Obviously not.bobo the clown wrote:If the response time was a tiny bit slow ... it's because I was already looking !!Worthy4England wrote:I should probably put this on the happy thread, but I'm delighted I'd heard of the footballer, but had to look up, who the fcuk Martin Gore was.Bruce Rioja wrote:That dreadful moment of realisation that the person that the 'little fittie' dental nurse looks a bit like is actually Martin Gore.

demonstrations out in force on the strand for workers' day. Which is quite nice.
The huge banners of Stalin and Mao though...not so much.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Well it's a surprise to me; Marx and Lennin, yes I can see that. Stalin, ?bobo the clown wrote:What ? .... is that a surprise to you ?mrkint wrote:demonstrations out in force on the strand for workers' day. Which is quite nice.

All must-have accessories for any demos, even though most there have never heard of them. A pic of Che Guevara is also handy along with Anarchy banners.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Well it's a surprise to me; Marx and Lennin, yes I can see that. I was in a Union office a few days ago & in the Officials office there were about 80 of these piled against his wall ready for a protest the coming weekend. I asked what this one was about " .... oh, I've no fckg idea, they get on your tits after a while .... I haven't had a proper Saturday lie in for months. Always one protest or another !"

In fairness, I reckon *most* of them have at least heard of Marx, Lenin, Stalin, Mao and Guevara!

Took Not Mrs Bob out for tea tonight (Eagle and Child at Weeton - very nice indeed). In the pub were another couple (married judging by the rings) sat opposite us. He spent the entire time we were in there on his i pad, she never put her phone down. To some extent, I could understand this if they were in their twenties but they were in their forties. They exchanged around a dozen words in a couple of hours.
I'm not angry or happy, I just find that extremely ignorant and rather sad.

Surely if they were in their twenties they'd have more to say to each other? At least they had their iPads and phones to keep themselves occupied between the invariably prolonged silences many couples suffer as they run out of things to say to each other.Bijou Bob wrote:Took Not Mrs Bob out for tea tonight (Eagle and Child at Weeton - very nice indeed). Let me guess, they probably sat on the same side of the table, positioned so that they could look out at the rest of the pub/restaurant?
Hope is what keeps us going.
Re: Today I'm neither Angry nor Happy about....
They were sat at right angles to each other. The other half and I can sit quite happily in each others company without talking much, but I just think there's something rather sad about people taking an instrument to the pub which allows them to disengage. Perhaps its just me.

I know what you mean. I can sit for hours with Mrs H, without saying much at all. Afterall, it's rude to interrupt.Bijou Bob wrote:They were sat at right angles to each other. A simple, quite straight forward, business meeting, Bijou Bob. Problem solved.

'No phones at the table' is the rule as far as I'm aware. Bit weird taking an iPad to the pub anyway!Bijou Bob wrote:They were sat at right angles to each other. Hmmm, my partners son takes his everywhere. It really clashes with my value set, but it's not for me to interfere.
