Re: Today I'm angry about.....
That's an amazing parallel to an incident in Sydney, Dan. A fuelled up dimwit wandered around Kings Cross and 'king hit' four or five innocent pedestrians with whom he had had no previous contact. One of them he killed. There was media and 'Letters to the Editor' outrage when he was sentenced. It seems that he pleaded guilty to manslaughter and the DPP accepted that rather than pursue the original murder charge. He was sentenced to four (might have been five) years incarceration. No wonder the parents of the young man he killed were distraught. I do know that if someone had done that to my son I'd be seriously thinking of revenge rather than trust the judicial system.
Re: Today I'm angry about.....
He might find that people fight back in prison. Totally agree with Dan and AG, hope he gets a real hammering and lives in the same sort of fear he sought to inflict. I have no tolerant views when it comes to people who behave like that.bwfcdan94 wrote:I hope he gets hell in prison and would very much like to see him never let out. TBH I was expecting that to happen in this case. Despite him being a thug I didn't think the DPC would be able to prove he meant to kill his victim. Not that I'll be losing any sleep over it. Hope he rotsDujon wrote:That's an amazing parallel to an incident in Sydney, Dan. I am also delighted this scumbag has been found guilty of murder. If you go around knocking people out for the fun of it (especially drunk people because they are easy targets like this tw*t) then you should suffer the same consequences as shooting someone indiscriminately or deliberately driving into pedestrians on the pavement.
Do not trust atoms. They make up everything.

You just need intent to cause serious injury if the person happens to die.Harry Genshaw wrote:TBH I was expecting that to happen in this case. It's only attempted murder where you need to prove an intention to kill.
It's never quite sat right with me, I have to say.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
It doesn't really bother me to much given the maximum sentence for manslaughter is still life. It's the three and four year actual sentences I have a problem with.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
Oh no, Dan, my thoughts were wandering down different paths. Not that I could do this, but:
Both knees rendered inoperative. Both shoulders shattered beyond repair. A banger ignited in each ear. A deliberately botched experiment in castration (whoops!). There are times when an eye for an eye is not good enough.

From a common sense point of view, how long could someone expect to go around thumping people unexpectedly and not think that at some point one of them may not get up again?

That's making a fairly hefty assumption of common sense at the front end of the sentence, JB.Jakerbeef wrote:From a common sense point of view, how long could someone expect to go around thumping people unexpectedly and not think that at some point one of them may not get up again?

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
A few weeks ago I noticed the first advertisements spruiking Christmas trees for sale.
They were advertised as 20 to 25% off! Off what?
