Re: The Politics Thread
You were trying to suggest that if we stay, it was the last hurrah of the socialist. You weren't passing general comment on whether or not there were some odd-ball supporters on the either side.Hoboh wrote:Martin McGuiness, George Soros - noted for being kind humanitarian typesWorthy4England wrote:I've consistently said I think we'll vote for exit. I just pointed out that if "Socialism" was your cause, then you wouldn't turn to Boris, IDS, Gove, Farage, Patel etc. to re-nationalize mine-working.
Where did "humanitarian" come into it?
I also can't believe that you used Martin McGuiness as being in any way typical of most Remainers, having gone to great lengths all weekend to point out that the dick-head that bumped off an MP last week was nowt to do with Brexiteers. Didn't take long for you to stoop to the levels you were concerned about less than a week ago.

I said people were being quick to jump on the band waggon, the comments section in the Guardian had some from the remain camp calling it an assassination, to be fair others were quick to distance their self from the nonsense.
I would never use the murder of someone to try to push leave.
You know what I would do with him if sane and found guilty, if he is nuts he would never see the outside of Broadmoor again, the same would apply even if the victim was not an MP.
Re: The Politics Thread
This is the same person who called people "scummy" for using her death for political reasons in the very same post that he attacked her grieving husband motives, so...
And of course it was an assassination. It's not a coincidence she was an MP.

Are you saying a politician murdered for political reasons doesn't meet the definition?Hoboh wrote:I didn't say that though did I?Worthy4England wrote:

Re: The Politics Thread
Again, do you know this for a fact, have you already heard the confession or testament in court, have you actually seen any proof other than the usual media frenzy that this was a political assassination carried out on behalf of a right wing organisation or at least in it's name?Beefheart wrote:Are you saying a politician murdered for political reasons doesn't meet the definition?Hoboh wrote:I didn't say that though did I?Worthy4England wrote:

lets use this theory eh and every Muslim that commits a murder of any none Muslim is a terrorist and has carried out an assassination.
Is assassination the new buzz word for the trendy because a 'mere' murder won't have the same impact on opinion?
Re: The Politics Thread
It's not really a buzz word is it? You couldn't name your team on The Apprentice 'Assassination'. Actually, bad example.
Yeah, if we ignore everything we know about him, what he believes and what he has said then yeah, maybe the killing of a politician wasn't politically motivated, but it probably was.

But you actually Know nothing or very little about the bloke or his motive do you other than speculation? This is the point.Beefheart wrote:It's not really a buzz word is it? You couldn't name your team on The Apprentice 'Assassination'. Actually, bad example.

I know enough that I feel comfortable that the use of the word assassination to describe her murder is uncontroversialHoboh wrote:But you actually Know nothing or very little about the bloke or his motive do you other than speculation? As tragic as her death undoubtedly was, is anyone else feeling it's all becoming a bit Lady Di - ish now?

Yup. Though at least I'd heard of Lady Di before she did (die, that is).CrazyHorse wrote:Absolutely my thoughts too.Harry Genshaw wrote:As tragic as her death undoubtedly was, is anyone else feeling it's all becoming a bit Lady Di - ish now?
It remains a terrible family/friends tragedy, and always will. It's context gave it a huge significance, but it should be moving toward stepping back to a close-people only deal now.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: The Politics Thread
Given the state of the Labour Party right now I thought I'd share this.
I receive lots of information on HR vacancies. Jobs, contracts, consulting.
This came in my email YESTERDAY of all days. Timing being everything ;
--------------------------------------------------
THE LABOUR PARTY
Head of Human Resources
Based: Head Office, London
Salary: £41,774.11 with an annual fixed sum allowance of £1003
The Labour Party is looking to recruit a Head of Human Resources to provide comprehensive generalist HR support to the Labour Party on the full HR remit, working to support the design and implementation of the strategic Human Resources plan, in addition to managing and supporting the Human Resources team.
Acting as a trusted advisor to the organisation, the successful candidate will have experience of delivering complex HR projects from conception through to delivery, the ability to challenge constructively and give feedback, the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines, and the ability to recommend HR approaches that support the strategy.
To apply for this role, please complete an application form and send it to [email protected] by no later than 3rd July 2016. Application materials are available to download by visiting our careers website at by clicking on the 'Apply' button.
The Labour Party values equality and diversity, and welcomes applications from candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.

A lot is wrong with this but nothing more so than a salary of £41,774.11
The level itself is an insult for "Head of" in a sizable central London based role but more so the detail.
"So Mr clown, from what we've discussed are there any things you've noticed which you would wish to change as a priority ?"
"Well, one would be to investigate a fckg mentality which thinks job structures & salaries need to be penny-arsed to the point of 11 bloody pence ... & deal with the people who don't see that as farcical by the purchase of industrial quantities of 'sorry your leaving' cards and the use of revolving fckg door".
(shuffling of feet and moving of chairs from people staring at their shoes)
"Errr .... thank you. That will be all. We'll get in touch!.
