Did cross my mind that today when I saw the article on the beeb but I just can't see any way we could afford his wages if Alf & Al habsi were both non starters due to finances
the deal stoke have given him means he wouldn't be available till Jan - he's been out since Feb following a bang on the head and been receiving specialist care, which sounds serious and difficult to assess/ guarantee even in Jan.
How so? We couldn't loan him?

Yeah totally dependent on how fit he is!

Elsewhere in the paper, some interesting Lennon words:
After (Rob Hall) moved on I would think we can now bring someone in. That is what we are working on now.

I’m not going to talk about players who are contracted to other clubs. Le Fondre did well last year and that’s where we are at the minute. He was well thought of by everyone fans and staff – but I’m not going to disrespect Cardiff by talking about one of their players whether there is interest or not.

We have a set wage bill and we’re right on the cusp of that at the moment. Unless that changes, and someone goes out, then it’s difficult to bring players in. That’s where we are, that’s the barometer, and that’s fine. I have still got some good players to come in who will improve us and make us better.
Clearly, getting rid of Baptiste and his "eye watering" wages didn't free up nearly as much as we hoped

How so? We couldn't loan him? coincidentally a story in local paper today - sounds like the deal is covering his rehab period

Isn't Hall in the last year of his contact?

Have we seen the last of him?

Yes.

It still bothers me that we have very few wingers.

Walker, Feeney, Clayton will play out wide. Possibly one short but not the worst area of our squad.

Clayton hasn't even played in a friendly yet, whilst Feeney is our best winger and his final ball is awful half the time. I'm not convinced by our wingers, unfortunately. But I guess if Lennon goes with 3 at the back, perhaps the wingers won't need to be the biggest concern ...

I think we'll see Clough out there away from home too.

This story is utter bullocks. It would take at least £4-5m to even think about it and Ipswich don't have that type of money
I hope I'm not being serious, but seeing as we are in our financial situation, I can imagine BWFC considering any serious offers for any of our players, be it Vela or any other?

Or it did but the wage bar came down a lot too.

I also believe that we would welcome ANY type of cash for our players - £750k in and wages out? They'd jump at the chance and won't give a fook about any backlash from the fans

Depends what the Eddie Davies situation is. If he needs cash that is one thing. If he's just sick of investing that is another. Think it is all guess work.

I think 9m loss last year, diminishing parachute payments and FFP mean we have to reduce further the outgoings. The alternative is a huge gamble to get promoted and I think it would need ALF and a few expensive defenders to make that bet worth a punt.

Twitter is pretty hot with the Vela to Ipswich rumours again. Apparently it's in their afternoon rag, and a fee of 750k has been mentioned.

I'll be honest, I'll be pretty pissed off if we flog him, especially for 750k.

Quite possible that this is their evening paper reporting last night's internet rumour. Doesn't make it so.

750 k and wages of, say, 3k per week does not an ALF make.

I know we're a selling club .... well, we are if we have anyone to sell, but this is another Championship club and a suggested fee which offers no benefit at all.

They can fck right off.
