Still not decided if I can be arsed with it this year or not.
I'll wait for Worthy's review before I take the plunge... :)
Could be a while coming, I bought it for my son. Little bugger is getting sent to bed early today for doing something naughty - just not decided what yet. :-)
When I got home from work yesterday the wife had made my mind up for me and bought it me in Asda. Which was nice.
So put in a couple of hours on the campaign last night. S'ok but as I thought it now the 4th year on the trot I've paid for and played basically the same game.
This was my concern. When Infinity Ward stepped away from the game then I was worried that it would lose it's edge, and that the single player would play second fiddle to the online. That said, anything with a 'Nazi zombie' mode is worth a dabble 8)

I think the single player is better than MW2. Storyline is great and grips you from the off.

Play is more varied and somewhat more interesting so far. Only about an hour (max) in though.

Dunno about the story, the narrative has totally lost me, i just skip cutscenes and get blasting now. the game play is brilliant tho, very familiar granted but i love the intensity of battle, is nicely difficult on veteran too to keep you on your toes! seems quite short tho i felt i was getting too far too soon so came off it. Was pleasently surprised by it tho as i was only really interested in the online stuff anyway.

the online btw is fooking immense!!!

check out the 'One in the Chamber' wager match! you have one bullet, a knife and 3 lives - quality!

Is it worth getting solely for the single player? Thinking of getting it on the Wii, but not interested in the multiplayer/online stuff.

Got my copy of Black Ops yesterday, im not online so can only comment on the one player mode.

It's not bad, there's some really good levels that Ive seen so far. My only problem with it though is that in some places it feels like Im playing an arcade game rather than the quality type of fps that the previous ones have been. Found myself getting on a heavy machine gun with unlimited ammo blasting hell out of enemies that respawn endlessly or trucks speeding around behind you at ridiculous speed that explode like on the mad Japanese shoot-em-up games you find in amusement arcades a little too often - but otherwise Im enjoying it. Made it up to the levels in Hong Kong last night before switching off.

I really like the background plot about the numbers stations, I did a bit of reading about Cold War numbers stations a few months ago - you can still hear ghostly voices endlessly rhyming off random numbers on certain radio frequencies to this day, still sending out coded information for active spies!

I have read in the review that the campaign in the new CoD is decent in places, but lacks pacing and dynamics, i.e. constant bombardment of explosions, big set pieces a lot of the time, etc.

If it was Infinity Ward, I'd be more inclined to buy it. But World at War sucked so I can't see myself buying this in the near future (or at all).

World at War was brilliant and massively underrated, imfo!

i wouldnt be forking out 40 quid for black ops though if i wasnt planning to still be hammering it online it six months time!

its a bit steep for a 5 hour game id you dont take it online.

Don't buy Force Unleashed II.

Rent, at a push, but don't buy.

It's no different. In fact, it's pretty boring.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 is a desperate cash grab. For whatever minor improvements were made to the combat for this sequel -- and, boy, are they pretty basic -- the story is an insult to the original's award-winning narrative. While the first Force Unleashed tied up a compelling piece of Star Wars canon in a nice bow, the sequel has no aspiration to be a major part of lore or to be nearly as epic. It simply cobbles together glorified fan fiction for what amounts to an unexceptional subplot as it abruptly ends in the second act screaming, "SEQUEL GOES HERE!"

Oh dear.

Shame I thought the first game with a few tweaks could have been amazing.

But sounds like the second is just a re-hash. I'll steer clear then.

Enjoyed the single player of WaW but didn't enjoy the multiplayer for some reason.

i think it just frustrated folk after modern warfare, with all the old WW2 guns n'that - i liked it though, was easier to compete with the top players!

I forked out for TFU2. Huge Star Wars fan, figured I had nothing to lose. I thought the graphics were good, and the story was alright, but as has been said, just screams "SEQUEL!!" at the end. The game engine itself isn't vastly improved - it didn't need to be, and the Force Fury function has definite "DUDE!!" factor.

Main problem? Gameplay is 4 hours. 5 hours if you're the slowest gamer in the world. Very disappointing.

A friend at work bought CoD on Monday and it sat on his desk all week in it's wrapper, so he let me borrow it over the weekend.

Loving it :D

Can anyone help me with a couple of queries on the X Box?

My old PC has gone kaput so I've decide to invest in one purely as a gaming console. I'm not interested in playing on line or owt just playing a few good shooting and driving games.

Theres a deal on at Asda £147 for a 4GB console + 1 recent game. It's within my price bracket - a good deal? Would I be able to add more GB + kinect later on if I wanted?

Also, are there any strategy type games? I had a browse around and could see loads of FPS (Medal of Honour etc) & Platform stuff but horror of horrors - no Football Manager

you *might* be able to buy a hard drive laters [theres none out yet (?) , and it looks like a screwdriver job to fit one], but i'd get one with one. theres one on amazon for 190? with a game. you get a headset too with the hdd verson.

the xbox slim 250gb is glossy front, the 4b is matte , aparrantly.

however regular usb drives work with them now though so if 4gibs aint enough you could shove more in the usb sokets.

the camera thing even works on the old shape . so you should have no trubs adding that laters.
