We also have plenty of history here about this time each year, when next year's ST's have gone on sale.BWFC_Insane wrote:Reading the official bwfc twitter

He wants to be careful saying stuff like that. Bolton have a history here, especially where faxes are concerned.......

I must admit .... & Medo is an exception here of course ... I do think signing players who will suit either division is an odd one.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Does that statement mean there's a different plan for each option?

Does he not just mean the players are lined up and pens at the ready? Once the season ends we sign on the dotted line?

They need to buy a box of pens and put them on the phone table. That should sort things!

I'm not sure to be fair that's a real thing other than in the most cynical's eyes.Worthy4England wrote:We also have plenty of history here about this time each year, when next year's ST's have gone on sale.BWFC_Insane wrote:Reading the official bwfc twitter

In this case for example hasn't the early renewal date passed already? And we'd already sold 8000 or something.......

Wasn't a comment to be cynical. Every year I can recall, around new ST time, before the end of the season, we often announce potential purchases.BWFC_Insane wrote:I'm not sure to be fair that's a real thing other than in the most cynical's eyes.Worthy4England wrote:We also have plenty of history here about this time each year, when next year's ST's have gone on sale.BWFC_Insane wrote:Reading the official bwfc twitter

I thought that too but just picked up a post on the Shrewsbury forum that suggested a sell on clause was involved in the dealWorthy4England wrote:Do you get a sell-on fee if you've released a player?Salford Trotter wrote:He's committed to completing the U21 season so will leave after that. Maybe he thinks they're good enough to play in the Premier league. And if they are, then they're definitely good enough for the Championshipbobo the clown wrote:I must admit .... & Medo is an exception here of course ... I do think signing players who will suit either division is an odd one.

Maybe Dougie has a couple of potential Medo signings under his radarbobo the clown wrote:Damn you Moriarty .... so simple when you see it like that.boltonboris wrote:Maybe he thinks they're good enough to play in the Premier league. Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
Bolton boss Dougie Freedman is planning to start his summer shopping early, with two signings already in the pipeline.
The Trotters are hoping to have fresh faces on board before the end of May, with more to follow when the transfer window re-opens.
Freedman is already making arrangements for next season despite being unaware of which division Bolton will be in, with there every chance that they will be involved in the Championship play-offs.
He is, however, keen to get his transfer business completed early and believes he has identified players that will strengthen his ranks regardless of what happens over the coming weeks.
"We will be signing two players by the end of this month no matter what division we're in, and there's another three that are on the sheet that the chairman's aware of," said Freedman.
"No matter what, I sign a certain type of player with a certain DNA. It doesn't matter what division we're in, I know what players we're going to go after.
"It's not about spending the biggest money, it's about getting the right targets. I have planned for that and I think it's always crucial to do that."
Freedman has refused to be drawn on the identity of his targets, but added: "I think I'd like to balance the squad up a little bit.
"With the amount of centre-halves we've got and centre midfielders we have, I just need to balance it up in the wider areas, and that's what we're going to do.
"That may make one or two people move on but that's life in football, that's the way it goes."

Quantity has a quality all of its own.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
See, I think he meant 'amount of centre-half'. We haven't got any proper ones (Wheater aside, who is decent, but no more), but if you add them all together we might have a few centre-halves worth.
In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind

Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
There were some people (names will not be mentioned) who have been claiming that you need a different type of player to be successful in the Championship than the sort of player who is successful in the Premiership. Not that I actually subscribe to that view. But I thought I'd point it out.boltonboris wrote:Maybe he thinks they're good enough to play in the Premier league. So one could be Owen Garvan. I know absolutely nothing about him.
