Scholes talent was wasted by Sven, who stuck him out on the left, and he failed to score for England in a fairly long time.
Then Sven had a rare moment of clarity and stuck him at the front of the short-lived diamond, and Scholes scored almost immediately, only to then get shoved back out to the left.
Had he been played in the right position, he could have been one of the greats.

I remember 'When Saturday Comes' doing a piece about how in his previous 20 games for England his biggest contribution was a quick throw in!
Think that prompted him to leave the England squad. Not that he was playing badly more Sven's
tactics were making him look bad. That said, you could add Gerrard, Lampard, Hargreaves in fact most of the current squad to that.
