Thanks for the link/info. My colleague that regularly visits SA reckons that they're absolutely nowhere near having things sorted out. Course, mention this to any Sitt Iffricin and he takes it that you're insulting his country and everyone in it rather than simply raising a concern.

The stadia will be ready, of that I have no doubt. There's too much invested (economically and by reputation of the key players) for them not to be. The infrastructure will still be non-existent and cause shed-loads of problems.
My particular favourite was the story about having to replace hundreds upon hundreds of seats in one stadium because they'd painted it after they were installed, and the paint had spattered all over a load of new seats. That and the fact that a dutch company installed a load of orange seats because the colour wasn't specced in the design, so they just thought it'd be great to have Dutch orange all over the shop

Sorry, I should've been more specific. Yes, that's his understanding too.blurred wrote:The stadia will be ready, of that I have no doubt. I hope France get Siff Iffrikka, Honduras and Ghana, if only to keep Paltini's gob shut with more shouts of "vote rigging" from the wings.
I'd be delighted with New Zealand, Nigeria and probably any of the S's in the European pot. But I think we'll probably get Mexico, Ivory Coast and Portugal, just so the meejah can bang on about "Groups of Death" for the next 6 months.

And Alexis Sanchez. Decent team Chile.blurred wrote:Sadly not. Although Humberto Suazo and Mati Fernandez make up for that, in my eyes.boltonboris wrote:Will Zamorano and Salas be playing?
Oh, and they might take Waldo Ponce, who is one of my favourite ever footballers (only because of his name).

I think that one of the USA's strengths is that other countries take them lightly, pile forward, and then the US pick them off on the break. I just jeard one guy on the radio here saying that our group's barely recognisable as a football competition - exactly the arrogant shite that comes out every four years (or two when we qualify for the Euros). Didn't the US beat Spain recently?americantrotter wrote:Time for England to back up all the shit that most talk about the US here.

I'm sure the US loves seeing every website say the same thing. They did beat Spain, and gave Brazil a game. That's no guarantee, but the only thing that would ease the sting of an English loss is the come uppance factor.Bruce Rioja wrote:I think that one of the USA's strengths is that other countries take them lightly, pile forward, and then the US pick them off on the break. Yup, I've heard similar shite too, some from journos/pundits who aren't even one-eyed Englishmen. I don't think it's that easy a group - though I suspect it helps playing the US first.Bruce Rioja wrote:I just jeard one guy on the radio here saying that our group's barely recognisable as a football competition - exactly the arrogant shite that comes out every four years (or two when we qualify for the Euros). Should have had money on France getting into the group of dearth. It was nailed on that they were going to draw Sooth Ifrika. Let's hope they are as spectacularly bad as they were in 2002.
Group G looks tasty.
That'll be fun on here then when we play the US.
Glad we drew them though, it'll make it interesting at least.
Does that mean that it's Germany/Oz/Ghana/Serbia in the second round then? That could've been better. Still, you can't play shit teams all the way through.
The group with Brazil, Portugal and Team Drogba looks pretty tough as far as a 'Group of Death' goes.

Tough one, and we (Spain) will be playing second placed on that group on R2Tombwfc wrote:That'll be fun on here then when we play the US.

Our qualification group is easy on itself though.
Not a bad draw for England and Australia. If England finish 1st and Oz finish second they could be playing each other in the last 16, now that game I would look forward to.
That assumes that England beat the US, now I seem to remnember a 1-0 loss to them in one World Cup!!

Depression is just a state of mind, supporting Bolton is also a state of mind hence supporting Bolton must be depressing QED

.... ooooh, so close. What're your lottery numbers, so I can avoid using any of them ?boltonboris wrote:I take it it's one team from each pot in the groups?
In which case, I predict:
England
Denmark
Chile
Mexico
