Pub crawl on the way, only works so far, you sort of all end up in the same one by the time you get near the ground.

We usually go for drink in Manchester - many pubs. Grab cab near match time.

Those pubs near the stadium look scarily, seedily dangerous to me... Like, I'm uncomfortable just walking past them and looking steadfastly in the opposite direction...

Anyway, I'm not going this time, but I'd happily settle for a totally pathetic performance, them hitting the woodwork six times and us winning with a last minute penalty...

One of the most enjoyable awaydays ever... esp listening to the (as it was) GMR on the way home after...

Mary D's was an absolute delight, but not going to get in there as an away fan.

First one you come to on the route back to Manchester is ok, but rather unsurprisingly full of Citeh fans - think we canned it after about 20 mins trying to get to the bar, the season before last...

I'm going to this game. Not been to a football game for over 3 months so i'm looking forward to it. Being honest I'm finding it difficult to see us getting anything. A draw would be a wonderful result. If we try and play through them we may run into trouble, I'd rather see us have a go though I suppose and throw caution to the wind with us having such a healthy points tally so far. At least I can be home in under an hour if it's a shocker!

City fan I work with says they struggle againsts teams that sit back and let them attack as they find it nearly impossible to create chances against a packed midfiel / defence. They much prefer teams to have a go at them as they are quick on the break. Interesting puzzle for Owen Coyle - contimue with the attack minded policy or go against his natural instincts. FWIW I don't think our defence is capable of keeping a clean sheet (please,please prove me wromg!!) so might as well go for it.

The reality doesn't match that; I've been to most of those there after games and they're top places. They look dicey, absolutely, but next time pop inside and you'll not be disappointed.

as long as your not wearing colours you will get in Mary D's easily enough. i go there every year, its great fun. especially enjoy the national anthem before everyone leaves for the game!

also dont forget the Xmas markets are on and always good for a few Ameretto Gluweins to warm you up pre match!

This is my favourite away day - because it's in my home city!
I wasn't at the 'Speed Penalty' game but was in the City end when Anelka bagged two in a 2-0 win (which coincided with the last time England's finest took on the Aussies down under). I was also at the 4-2 loss in the Bolton end. Disgusting Dietmar (sp) stuck the knife in.

I can't go this year because I'm supposedly going to a music festival at Butlins in Minehead. If that doesn't happen I'll be going to Eastlands! Curry at This n That for lunch, the match, and then some mulled wine for afters! Splendid day out.

I reckon we'll give them a good game. We'll need Robinson to have the game of his career though. They'll target him for definite. He's our weak link.

I reckon we just play our game to our own strengths. The get at them mentality that we've had against Newcastle, Man Utd, Liverpool and Blackpool should see us in good stead.

Most teams will struggle against our workrate by Holden and Muamba and this'll free up Elmander and Davies to do their thing.

Mavis is a different kettle of fish altogether as it's more a dribbling success rate as opposed to a quick passing success but it should come in handy against the likes of De Jong.

Owen Coyle's got a tough job to do selecting his midfield this weekend. Petrov and Mavis both gave good accounts for why they should be in the squad and Muamba and Taylor have both fitted nicely into a successful midfield.

I can see the starting formation being the same as the one against Newcastle (should Holden be fit) and Petrov, Klasnic and Mavis coming on as impact subs if necessary (we've all seen they're more than capable ).
