Not thus far. Hence, perhaps, the invasive surgery early enough to give him time to recover fully. More pertinently, hence the need for midfield reinforcements: even if he, Holden and Muamba were all fit, our system and style demands we have another serious, regular option there. It may be Sean Davis, but it may also be a big risk to rely on that.

Totally agree with this LL, I like Mavies, he's got great skills but he's injury prone.

Only having one (half fit as it turns out) centre mid to fall back on + Tamir Cohen has cost us considerably.

Maybe the lad getting this sorted, then having a full and proper pre-season (which he never has, by my reckoning) could alleviate some of these knocks and niggles. He'll be a frightening player if he stays relatively injury free for a sustained period

I agree, with the hope that he frightens the opposition more than us... He's a great option when we're chasing the game (either to bring on when behind or to start at home to weaker oppoes) and seems to be learning the defensive diligence we need in that role. Good luck to the lad.

For me, he's the sort of player with the kind of ability that we could build a team around for years. He'd be electric in an expansive central 3 (I think Muamba, M. Davies and Holden, would be as good as anything outside the top 5 or 6 if used properly)

But to do that we'd need a striker with legs and ability (Anelka) and play high up the pitch with Muamba holding.

Anelka was great under Sam and Megson, but he often a little exposed, especially away from home. Under Coyle we could swiftly change from a 4-5-1 to a 4-1-5.

But it's not exactly 'Coyle' is it..

I genuinely think when he's in full flow he's one of the more exciting players to watch we've ever had. He's a poor, fat, tanned man's Wilshere.

He's had all manner of injury problems for a 23 year old though.

He was better than Muamba when we woke up in January...rounded his game off this year I thought. Its a fecking shame he went over on his ankle at Brum. The second biggest 'Oh Shit' moment of the season really when I reflect.

Tell him to stay away from aya bloody napa this summer.
Get him in pre-season (assuming he recovers from his op).
Get him fit, and get him in the side...and if that doesn't work, well whens his contract up? Signed a new one this year?

Yep - to be honest I knew there was another and couldn't recall it, so posted anyway with a balls-to-it flourish.

Muamba's stock may have fallen (unfairly IMO) among some Bolton fans but he's still one of our best financial assets.
