Re: Reserves v Villa
We won it under Rioch, I'm pretty sure. I think the team had a young Hasnee Aljofree in it. Thats the only one I remember.
I think the last good and productive reserve/youth lot we had was the Kevin Nolan/Nicky Hunt/Dean Holden one.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

It often had Owen Coyle in it too.Lord Kangana wrote:We won it under Rioch, I'm pretty sure. I think the team had a young Hasnee Aljofree in it. Thats the only one I remember.

Get your point and agree for the most part. Still I would assume that the style of football they are playing in the reserves in kind of a reflection of the type of football we are playing in the PL. So the improved overall play is a good indicator, and also there seem to be a few players putting in an excellent performance.CAPSLOCK wrote:Not reallyseanworth wrote:While it's a shame over the poor start to the season, all that really counts is that the reserve team is developing and improving as the season progresses. Of that there is no question. Hopefully they will finish strong and gain confidence as a result.
What is important is that individuals are developing
The team and its results are irrelevant - it might be a sign we have players of promise, equally, it might not
We need outstanding players coming thru, players of real quality, not a dozen functional ones who make a successful team at that level
Years back, when the first team were poor, the reserves won their league - don't think any of them made a mark at first team level, for us or anywhere else
Think it was in Phil Neals day, under Steve Carroll
