Harsh, Bruce. JOB could have been a good player for us. He's certainly been seen as good enough to played 34 times for West Ham this season.
Yeah this. JOB was good. Blighted by injuries but good.
Really? I disagree. Poor in the tackle, couldn't carry it forward so tried to pump it up the line instead which always led to a throw-in for the other side. And injury prone. Tell me then, what exactly was he good at?
Playing regularly for a mid table Prem side? and he scored a couple of goals
Henrik Pedersen at left back? This is more to with Allardyce's organisational brilliance than it is the ability of the individual

Good or not. Allardyce's ploy of playing players out of position to cover the LB / RB slots worked quite well and meant we didn't have to spend £2.5 million on a player.

Haven't watched the interview yet but surely you're all taking the Joey O'Brien thing too seriously? Think he's taking the piss.

I want Bruce to do some more football-related Chas N Dave style ditties.

Nope. He was being serious. It was the last name he mentioned on the subject so probably didn't mean to say it but it was the name that came into his head, he then realised what he said and he waited for the next question

Sam was/is good at organisation but he stuck players into positions where they could do a job. He didn't put shite into the team on a regular basis and won't be doing so now.

O Brien played 30 odd games for them because Allardyce clearly thinks he is good enough. He kept a decent player in Demel out the side.

JOB for me was always a decent allrounder, solid enough, decent enough on the ball, good going forwards.

Have you seen him play for West Ham this season? He's overlapped well and really stretched teams at times from right back. Decent solid mid-table premiership player would be my assessment. And for me that puts him ahead of Hunt (where is HE now?) and everyone else we've had at right back since.

Hunt is at Rotherham but was on loan at Accrington Stanley.

I couldn't give a flying feck how he's played for West Ham, I was on about how he played for us.

On JOB: I always liked him more in central midfield, where he struck me as a good passer with a decent eye for the mid-length ball but also be happy to lay it off short and simple when need be. Good as one of the 2 in a 4-2-3-1.

Na I'm sorry he totally meant it as a joke, he looked into the camera as he said it and carried on talking as normal. I'm sure they're I've read or heard that they're really good friends so probably meant it as a rib or something.

There's not a flicker of a suggestion he's joking! (4 mins 30 seconds if anyone's interested..)

As Bobo said - I think he just started naming his mates, but not in an ironic way.

Apart from the fact that he looks straight into the camera as he's said it and JOB sticks out like a sore thumb in the list of players he's just mentioned?

Although I suppose after naming Kevin Nolan, JOB's name would come up as the next 'product' of youth and as previously mentioned they are mates so I can buy that too.

O'Brien was billed as our very own Carrick in the academy. He was a favourite from early days

All the best Bibi Gardner. You introduced me to BWFC when you joined as a 19yo and I have been a die hard fan since then. You have to move on and I look forward to seeing you playing for a club again in Jamaica. But I am staying "put" with BWFC. I am a now a fanatic along with the others on here.

JOB was and is a very limited footballer. Allardyce is a veritable magician at making very limited players do a job for him. Nevertheless, this doesn't stop JOB being a very limited footballer.

And he looked dogshit under Megson, but then so did everyone else, including the "have you seen him play at West Ham" Kevin Nolan, so maybe judging him under that clown is a little unfair.

But he's still very limited.

I'd take some 'limited players' good enough to play over 30 premiership games for a midtable side.

Limited perhaps in terms of Ribery, Messi and Robben. But if you compare him to the right backs we've had over the last decade, limited doesn't come into it.

Oh and 'that clown' was cited by O Brien as saving his career when signing him for Sheffield Wednesday on loan when his career looked over.
