Today I'm neither Angry nor Happy about....

If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

Christmas has lost all its true meaning as a celebration of the birth of Christ. It's just a massive self-indulgent spending spree. Turkey's a massively over-rated main course and the whole shemozzle is just an excuse for every shop to part you from your money by doing special offers on Christmas Easter eggs and Halloween Christmas trees. . Kids don't get books and jigsaw puzzles any more, they want an all singing all dancing fully computerised iphone, cum e book, cum X Box, com Wii, complete with its own wardrobe full of gadgets, oh, and a couple of hundred quid's worth of designer clothes. That's of course if they haven't turned eighteen, in which case they'll be looking for a Fiat Panda or somesuch. Three of my happiest Christmases have been spent just saying to hell with it all, and going off for a week in Benidorm. Recommended, and it can work out cheaper in the long run

Think that should do it.

As main presents, the sense I meant them in? I think not.

No, he doesn't, nobody actually knows when Jesus was born for sure. December 25th is just the mainly accepted day for celebrating the birth.

With all the development in modern science, no bugger can tell us when Obafemi Martins was born. Got no chance with a 2000(ish) year old fella. :-)

I do wonder if Tango's family were as curmudgeonly. "Young James wants one of those fancy new jigsaw things for Christmas. What's wrong with a piece of coal? Kids today are ruined. Ruined." :)

what I know is that we don't have the faintest idea when he was born - we don't even know where he was born... I'm just interested to know how you can be so definite it WASN'T Dec 25th!

Shepherds watching their flocks.....in the winter.......

Also, Mary and Joseph came to Bethlehem to register in a Roman census, these were also not done in the winter...

ahhhh - I see - you believe the luke and matthew birth narratives... I see... each to his own! I'll stick to not having the faintest idea! :-)

(also - though it is often said - it isn't actually true that palestinian shepherds could not be in the fields in december)
