We will see what effect future flooding has on London and its inhabitants.
The barrier can only hold back so much and the effects of that impact residential areas down stream anyway.
If I had a business or headquarters in the city a plan B to get the hell out would be no1 priority and I guess half the moneymen have one that probably involves Bonn, New York or somewhere like that.
The stuck up tw*ts think they HAVE to be in a financial city paying top rates and rents to look cool!
Technology must have passed the cretins by to a degree

With talk about downstream and flooding, must be something to do with the Thames Barrier.Prufrock wrote:Not for the first time I've no idea what you're on about! Clue?

It's pretty much a confession that Global Warming is having an impact.
Welcome out of the closet, Hobes.
Re: You take the high road...
That's what I thought at first until I realised it's Hobes so it can't be.
Then given we're on about flooding I thought immigration, but I don't see how that fits Scotland.
And technology?

We're already seeing the effects. From my (admittedly limited) recollection of Geology the South of England is sinking into the sea at a rate of around 1mm per annum which, combined with 'climate change' will lead to rising tides. The Thames Barrier was built (using technology) to withstand the rising spring tides waaaaay before Climate Change or Global Warming was a dinner-table discussion topic.

Not only is England sinking but Scotland is rising. I hope they don't realize this before the independence referendum. You southern softies should all go on a diet!Gary the Enfield wrote:Hoboh wrote:We will see what effect future flooding has on London and its inhabitants.

Should've mentioned that, yes. I think when Scotland gets back it's independence and the newly elected UKIP have sent all the buggers back (tae think again) the weight equilibrium will be restored.

Truly amazing. They are, quite simply, making this up as hey go along !!

So we'll be independent but will want UK national funding and access to UK lottery cash.

"We are entitled to a share of UK Sport funding because it is part of UK government funding, just as we would look to negotiate a share in the same way we would look at defence spending and foreign affairs spending," Ms Robison said
Really?
Do they know what being a nation entails? You sort out your own defence (you can often get a third nation to provide you with arms if you kick off with someone - say Greenland or the Faroe Islands)
And you sort out your own foreign affairs because, well, err, that's the fcuking point of being independent.
So far we have currency, sport, defence and foreign affairs that they're expecting rUK to help fund - any more for any more?
Re: You take the high road...
SNP has been doing this right from the start, promising independence yet expecting us to foot the bill for everything under the sun.
It would have been honest to tell the Scottish people, go your own way, fine, but the day you leave is the day the cash flow stops and passports will be required when entering England and tarrifs charged on goods.
But it would take balls to tell them this, something Camoron and Georgie Porgie have never had!

Re: You take the high road...
What exactly *do* they want to do independently? If all it is is being able to say they are, then f*ck it, let 'em have it if it gets Salmond's face off the telly for the next two months.
Also, I do enjoy the SNP's identikit response to every single problem or question they are confronted with. 'I am confident an independent Scotland will be able to do X'. Want to elaborate on how? No? Outstanding.

Re: You take the high road...
the claim that they should have UK national lottery funding because lots of scots buy lottery tickets is a nonsense.

I'm reliably informed that the ceremony tonight has dogs in it. The biggest cheer of the dress rehearsal was when one of the dogs pooped on the track.
From what I understand there's also a giant kilt and sporran. I can't comment as to whether there will be nothing underneath it but a big picture of Alex Salmond.

Sorry if this is a bit dim of me, but if they leave the UK then wouldn't they have a fair claim to their proportion of UK expenditure during the setting up process?bobo the clown wrote:Truly amazing. They are, quite simply, making this up as hey go along !!

I think that's not unreasonable. When does the setting up process finish and when do they start their own National Lottery?Harry Genshaw wrote:Sorry if this is a bit dim of me, but if they leave the UK then wouldn't they have a fair claim to their proportion of UK expenditure during the setting up process?bobo the clown wrote:Truly amazing.
