Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Don't really see GC being a money grubber like Nasri. He might want higher wages yes, but I think he'll be wanting matches. And it will probably depend on where that team he signs for sits in the table (think your lot will fail that one).I could see him going to Chelski as an eventual Terry replacement...Abs wrote:You are right...we cant compete with oil moneyfatshaft wrote:All very good my man, trouble is, when he's on a free next year, you won't be able to compete with the wages he gets offered by non-scrooge like managers elsewhere. he won;t be at Arsenal if he leaves for free.Abs wrote:lool....he will leave on a free next summer. If he signs a new contract, your chairman deserve respect. if he leaves on free, which everyone expects him to do....then he made a huge mistake. Elmander this year and Cahill next which you will get 0 pound for
I could also see him staying with us...

Its all irrelevant really, because either money or winning things disounts Arsenal and Spurs this year. This was their last chance, and they knew it. Hence Jamie giving it large for his dad whilst mugging us off in a top, top manner. Boat race etc.

Villas-Boas wants England partnership Cahill & Terry at Chelsea
Sep 3 2011 By People Sport
Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas wants to pair up England duo Gary Cahill and John Terry in his defence.
The Portuguese chief has told Bolton of his interest and will have first option on the Three Lions star in January.
Villas-Boas steered clear of the mini-auction for Cahill in the last transfer window as Tottenham and Arsenal made low bids for the classy centre-half.
Chelsea did not want to meet Wanderers’ £17million valuation for a player in the final year of his contract.
Bolton will be happy to recoup around £8million for Cahill in January, as the player can go on a free next summer .
Chelsea put down a ‘marker’ for the defender by sending French forward Gael Kakuta to the Reebok on loan – a deal that will be reviewed in January.
And Villas-Boas will look to seal a deal for Cahill in the New Year market – with his availability for Champions League action a major plus in his favour.
Tottenham will try again for Cahill, but Arsenal have dropped out following the deadline-day signing of German international Per Mertesacker.

Arsenal can compete they just don't want to, cheap ba$tards. All that money for Fabregas and Nasri and what did it do for them? Two things: "Fook" and "all"!!!!!

But the good news is if Chelsea are in for him then that's Harry and Arsene fecked and we will end up with him for a few more months and still get a bigger fee than Arsenal offered!
Now that's what I call good!

Nice sitution to be in when Chelsea are chasing one of our players. Hope if GC does go he fares better than Tal Ben Haim. Shame we can't just keep him, but that's pipe-dreaming.

I would have thought you all had enough of this speculation, I can tell you they aren't enjoyable at all with our very own Cesc/Nasri saga's all summer it all stops now with the window shut until 4 months time. I don't know if he'll sign a extension with your guys but he's been professional this summer which I find refreshing in modern day football, I rate him highly and he would have been a great signing for Arsenal but that has past now time will tell if Wenger got it right or wrong.

Think its all bullshit paper talk to be honest. Transfer window shut, nothing else to write about.
But thinking about it, he would eventually replace Terry if it did happen.

Aye - he's scored in every start for England, but nowhere near that for us.
Clearly saving himself for the big stage.
Cahill out.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
I believe Coyle has and Cahill have played this well.Neither Arsenal nor Spurs have sorted out their defensive requirements in the window and a poor few months will see an increasing clamour for action from their fans. Cahill will be incredibly motivated(not that he ever appeared not to be) to prove his value. So we should get a good first half of the season and potentially as much if not more of a fee should he go in January. If he plays well and his suitors struggle I can't see them risking more lowball bids and the ire it would produce from their fans.

Really infuriating headline in the Metro today - sending out loud and clear the message that you can't really play for England unless you play for a 'big club'.
Gary Cahill looking to cement England spot despite missing Arsenal move
Gary Cahill wants to become an established force with England despite failing to secure a transfer deadline-day move to one of Arsenal or Tottenham.
(link http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/8 ... z1X49YXNAX" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; )
So he wants to play for England DESPITE not moving away from Bolton! Who does he think he is?!
