You're right. Send in a gunboat (oh, make that tanks), plant a union Jack, give em a picture of the Queen ( make sure the Duke of Edinburgh isn't on it) and tell em they're part of the great Empire. Should work okay.Hobinho wrote:Well............ One similar story I'm always reminded of at any family gathering is when I was a similar age, my grandparents were babysitting, I was sat in the corner doing my own thing, before out of the blue turning to them and saying, 'Nana, Grandpa, you're boring you are', or my younger brother telling my Nana she shouldn't die before Christmas because the food wouldn't be as nice. Or the time my dad annoyed four year old me so much I locked myself in the downstairs toilet and he had to climb through the tiny window. Must be awful to here but I really wouldn't worry that she means it.KeeeeeeeBaaaaaaab wrote:Today I'm angry about being told that someone doesn't like me.
Normally it'd be water off a duck's back and something I'm used to.
But not the sort of thing I expect to hear from the Kebabling.
My three year old daughter.
Without any emotion in her voice. No tantrum. No behavioural motivation. A simple "I want you to go back to work, Daddy, because I don't like you".
I could have gone ballistic, but I don't want to inflame any possible situation with Mrs K.

Pfft. Can't even make a frivolous joke these days....bloody folk with their 'accuracy'....
Well..Wikipedia, world renowned sure-fire reference says he only moved to Spain to learn it when 'e were 15, having already been dead good. So I'm sticking with my 'shouldn't playing in the rain and the cold be a bloody advantage to a Scottish bloke?!'

Well probably. But it was a match where he had to try and hit some early winners. So thats a bit unfair, he couldn't win by just "lolloping" it back over the net!!!!!Prufrock wrote:Pfft. Can't even make a frivolous joke these days....bloody folk with their 'accuracy'....

I think it's unfair that he had to play in the dark and the rain, but his opponent had optimal conditions.BWFC_Insane wrote:Well probably. I assume that's what happened, otherwise he wouldn't have complained, would he? After all, if they'd both had the same conditions to play in, there'd be nothing to moan about, would there?

Vegetarian restaurants.
I may have said this before, but I'd like to repeatedly stress I have nothing against vegetarians. Nothing at all. Some of my best friends are vegetarians. And simply because Hitler was a vegetarian doesn't mean we should tar them all with the same brush.
However, vegetarian restaurants - these, I do have a problem with. In most normal restaurants, where ordinary, decent folk go to eat, you can find a vegetarian alternative. Something for the pasty-faced anemic types to eat. However, in vegetarian restaurants, where's the meat alternative? Something for us ordinary, decent folk to eat, whilst the unwashed hoard guzzle their mung bean and lentil casserole?
Oh look - a tofu burger. If I wanted to eat tofu, I'd sit at home and chew on cardboard.
Is this simply a selfish disregard for others held by vegetarians? Or is it something more sinister - an outright campaign of discrimination to get us all to convert to their weird, abnormal lifestyle?
And if they're going to continue in this vein, shouldn't proper restaurants stop catering for them in retaliation? Or is there some sort of European "directive" put about by the Brussels based Eurocrats that for "health and safety" reasons, we must offer vegetarian alternatives? It wouldn't surprise me. In a country where you can be locked up simply for showing your support for your national football team, nothing surprises me any more.

I took an ex to one once, it struck me that everything was more expensive than it should've been. Even the soup was more costly than its equivalent in a regular place. Final bill was over a tenner more than I'd have expected.Puskas wrote:Vegetarian restaurants.

Breaking news....
Live feeds.
Its a fooking squad announcement of which there will likely be very few surprises. No need for all these folks to be wetting their pants about it surely?
Dunga has got it right naming his 23 and his 7 reserves from the start. No dramas, no media campaigns for certain players. Everyone knows where they stand.

And now I realise my anger should be directed more at the useless FA than the BBC and SSN. Apparently the players were told this morning and AS SOON AS THEY WERE TOLD there should have been a press release on the FA's website with the 23 man squad announced.Athers wrote:Hell yesBWFC_Insane wrote:Hysteria over the England world cup squad.

Then we wouldn't have to suffer the whole charade of "he's in I've heard" "SSN breaking news...so and so is out".
So my anger is really that our FA is pathetic. Nothing new there then!
Isreal!
By all means arrest or sink the ships if they enter your waters after being told not to, you do not board them in international waters unless invited or excuse me is that not Piracy?
Do we expect the Turks to board Isreali flagged boats now if they happen to have a warship nearby? just to check they are not full of Mossad agents?
I don't take any sides in the middle East conflict between the Arabs and Isreal (they are as bad as each other in my view) but this is taking the pee!!!

which part of boarding aid/protest ships in international waters and shooting dead at least 10 civilians before imprisoning 600 people makes Israel the "right" side?as wrote:Israel have muslim countries all around them, now some of them like the UAE are quite 'moderate' compared to Iran, but surely it should be applauded that they can & do defend themselves?
Hobo - terrible for you to actually pick a side, and then realise it's the wrong one.
and - how is killing 1400 (mostly) civilian men women and children a "right" response to the death of 7 (mainly) Israeli army personel in an ongoing conflict?
