I thought the exact same thing tbh, not an amazing player but we are very light on the wings.
I thought the received wisdom was that he was fairly nondescript, more Get Ridder than De Rigueur.

Well it shouldn't be.
I was once interviewed in a 2002 documentary about the Humber Bridge called 'The Bridge of Size' (geddit?!). Perhaps the greatest moment of my life.

Linked with St Etienne. They currently have Carlton Cole and that Bolika (probably spelt completely wrong  ) lad on trial who we had training with us.

He is pretty average, but has championship experience in a position we're rather lacking in. If he was cheap enough I'd want him even if just for cover. I think people are underestimating just how light our squad is, concentrating on who will be starting rather than if we have enough cover for the season.
Hmmmm. But Uncle Ed and board people are worried about the wage bill. I think economics has a higher priority than a complete set of squad players. Time to slim down on squad size a little weeny bit.

Also rumours of Bordeaux showing interest. Today's B.N indicates he'll start tomorrow with Beckford as Moritz is a couple of weeks away from peak.

Based on what Dougie said at the fans forum, there is zero chance of him selling NGog.

I'd say from what I'd heard he would be the last player he would consider selling at this moment in time.

Yes, twice during the Humber Bridge Half Marathon! BBC were filming it for some 21st anniversary documentary.

I thought de Ridder did well against Burnley last year. Sacrificied for tactical reasons in the end. Can't see him being any more than a benchwarmer if we sign him, but them Dougie uses the squad and it looks like he's not got much else on if he's still free now, so I'd offer him a year.

As far as I understand the only time you can recall on a long term loan is January. So I think he's there till January at least.

If he starts scoring I'd use that to get as much money back as possible by selling him. I just don't think he wants to play for us, so don't want him back at all. He'd probably turn shite again as soon as he put the shirt back on.
Twitterer, anti-racism campaigner, charity worker..... oh and occasional BWFC player. He's probably a really decent lad and I wish him well, but somewhere else.
I see Dougie basically blamed Coyle for overpaying and panicking.

Rightly so aswell. Coyle bought Sordell because he wanted a dick measuring contest with Malky Mackay. He rang Malky for advise on Sordell and to see if he thought he was ready for the Premiership. Coyle got a sniff that Mackay was then going to buy Marvin and jumped in at the last minutes of the transfer window and bought him.

Marvin sat on the bench for pretty much the remainder of that season.

Unbelievable really.

But asked whether the price tag that accompanied the Team GB international had affected his performances, the Scot admitted that the club did pay over the odds.

“That’s not Marvin’s fault, it’s certainly not my fault or the fans’ fault that we made the decision to pay that sort of money for him,” he said.

“The problem is that he’s worth whatever he’s worth on the day. You buy players on transfer deadlines and their values can certainly increase. Unfortunately that’s what happened to our club.”
