He's the youngest manager to ever win a european competition and did the invicibles with Porto, shit time at chelsea but will flourish if given time.plymouth wanderer wrote:Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Huddlestone is in no way a target, we've no chance now we're not in the top flight. We didn't have a good chance when we WERE in the top flight.
AVB knows what he's doing, but he's being asked to sell to buy so he's doing what Redknapp rarely did: tidying up and making money through sales of players who don't fit.
AVB will be gone by the end of the season shocking manager
Did't he take his coaching badges in the same place same time with Coyle
That's enough to convince me he's shit

Sad to see we are being linked with Jay Spearing. Between him and Huddlestone I would definitely prefer Huddlestone.
Owen Coyle commenting that Spearing is a 'wonderfully talented young player'. If we end up permanently signing Jay Spearing without loaning him first i'll be leaning towards the Coyle out camp. We've already signed one player from Liverpool whose not quite made the grade for a sum higher than the player should cost and undoubtedly we'd end up paying over the odds again for Spearing.
I don't mind signing players from clubs who haven't quite made it elsewhere (Diouf and Sturridge being an example) but when we punt a load of money on a risk it just goes to show we should've been savvy and loaned the player first.
We might end up seeing Mark Davies going to Liverpool and having Spearing coming to us. That's a disturbing thought.

He needs to show he can dominate a midfield, consistently getting on the ball, moving it around, breaking up play, retaining possession etc....
Until he shows that for 90 minutes, week in week out, then for me, he's millions and gazillions of miles away from Liverpool standard, and they're not that good.
And I honestly think that whilst he has 'technical ability' we could replace him with a more basic, but 'involved' player for a better result, in the short term at least.
I take he's best behind a front man, though again for me, to accomodate him in that role he'd have to show more goalscoring and more chance creation than he does now.
For me he's one of the most overrated players by some Bolton fans I can ever remember. Not to say he doesn't have the potential.
I hope he grabs the game tonight by the scruff of the neck, rather than as he often does, let it bypass him as a passenger.

Will be hugely disappointing and a very bad reflection on Gartside if the defensive midfielder coyle4 has been after all summer doesnt materialize.Infact it would make all that talk of having to go up and pressure look like hot air.Gary the Enfield wrote:Gossip of sorts:

We could open our own smelting plant with the amount of irons that this cock reckons we have in the fire perpetually.TKIZ! wrote:According to the Oracle, 3 irons in the fire. Definitely 'live' concerns. What ever that means?

AVB same coaching course as Owen Coyle. Clearly defending wasn't on that course!TKIZ! wrote:Dawson gone to QPR, do Spuds have any defenders left? Ahh, who cares

So yeah, they're screwed without the perma-crocked Michael Dawson.......

The Huddleston deal with Stoke is the result of what Division they are in. Players with his view ... at his age ... won't drop out of the Prem. A very good signing for Stoke .... however he will look like a Tiara on a Shirehorse playing for Pulis.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Getting rid of the lumps and keeping/hiring ball-players. Nice.boltonboris wrote:Just Vertonghen, Caulker, Kaboul and Gallas!! So yeah, they're screwed without the perma-crocked Michael Dawson.......TKIZ! wrote:Dawson gone to QPR, do Spuds have any defenders left? Ahh, who cares
As for Huddlestone... interesting. Signs perhaps that Pulis wants to have more creativity with the ball, but you can't help wonder if he'll crunch numbers in September and decide Hudds hasn't worked hard enough. Still, they've been playing more of a 4-5-1/4-3-3 more often, so they could cover for the extra man in midfield...

if he's now surplus to requirements we could take Glenn Whelan- perhaps just the sort of keep-it-simple, busy enough midfielder with a bit of nous for the Championship we need
