Now that just about makes watching cricket bearable! How long does it take to get from Sussex to Bolton?Bruce Rioja wrote:There's a bacon and duck egg butty in it for you as well, don't forget. Re: The athletics/running thread
She missed some tests through poor organisation and forgetfulness. Athletes have to give their whereabouts for 1 hour every week so that testers know where to find them. In another country it would have been swept under the carpet, but it was right that she was banned because the whereabouts system is important. There was never any suggestion that she had ever used performance enhancing drugs. There are a lot of athletes on one or 2 missed tests because they might not see a tester for ages and then change plans and forget to inform. They get a lot more careful when on 2 , but she went to a different track to train because hers was shut. And they turned up. Unlucky in a way and I bet it changed the attitudes of a lot of other athletes.Burnden Paddock wrote:Knew she's servd a ban, but assumed she had tested positive. No different than Rio (spit) in any way, shape or form tbh.Harry Genshaw wrote:I never knew she had served a ban for missing 3 consecutive drug tests. Rio on the other hand deliberately missed a test for whatever reason. Something to hide perhaps, probably just arrogantly assumed he was above it. Worse than Christine whichever way you look at it.
An interesting and infuriating postscript was the Sun's headline before the London Olympics which read something like 'Do we want this to be the face of London 2012?' amid thinly veiled accusations of cheating. The same paper then contracted Rio as a columnist, fecking scummy hypocrites.

Hey, just because I think cricket is one of the most boring sports on earth (closely rivalled by golf) doesn't mean all females feel the same. My Grandma was a huge cricket fan. And my sister once beat my brother and father (who take their cricket very seriously...) in a fantasy cricket league simply by choosing the players for her team that she fancied the most...Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Oi you. Just did a hilly fartlek up and down and round the Pike. I'm liking living in Horwich, more scenic than Great Lever! Feeling OK again, parkrun Saturday to see where I'm at and then the real punishment begins... away at Forest.

Back from a run myself just now, Mo inspired me (or rather he did my friend Abi who then dragged me out) 2.5 miles and I am now ridiculously hot and sweaty. Its so humid out there (and I am extremely unfit)

Don't get me wrong, I would.Prufrock wrote:Am I the only one with a massive crush on Ms Shakes-Drayton?
But! She talks absolute shite and irritates me. I know some find her excitable drivel endearing but I'm not one of them. I want her to do well as she appears to be a nice person, but can't stand listening to her.
I ran the 2011 Scarborough 10k where she was obliged by UKA sponsors McCains to appear as celeb starter and she was treated like royalty but just spouted inane shit while we stood freezing and waiting to start.
