My former S-i-L now lives on Shetland. It's a bit rum by their house (that's not her house in the pic btw, that's the neighbour's place).. :shock:

Holy Cow! They have biggish waves up there. You might not find me swimming there.

we have a friend on shetland - she describes seas like that on a regular basis - she sent my missus a pic of the ferry coming across the other day in monster-scary sea-conditions... they know what rough seas are up there!

your ex s-i-l isn't called Katrina/Kathrine (sp?) is she?

Wow. Staggering pic. I'd have trouble sleeping at night with that outside the window.

Whilst that image is probably enhanced by a certain amount of foreshortening, Bruce, it's absolutely awesome. Putting aside the feeling of frailty in the face of Nature's power it must have been a sight to behold from your former sister-in-law's pad. At a guess the sound and feel of that North Atlantic/North Sea sea would have been just as impressive. 8)

No Bish, she's called Dawn. She's just told me that it's passed (for) now but they've lost several tiles.

Here on the west coast of Patrick's Island it started absolutely belting it down before whilst blowing a hooie, meaning I got absolutely soaked walking the full 50 yards down to the Indian. That's passed now but apparently it was just a taste of what we can expect from midnight until 07:00 for which they've issued a red weather warning. You'll find me in the foetal position under the bedclothes. ;)

Indeed, Dujon. Firstly I'm bloody sure that neither her or hubby will have taken it (I'll ask who did) but absolutely - can you imagine the roar of that lot going on? It's a great photo but yeah, it is after all only a snapshot, the experience must have been incredible (unless your also watching your own roof tiles flying over your head ;) ) .

I can well believe this.
Yesterday [December 10, 2014 - Ed] the waves hitting Scotland were the biggest in the world, and apparently kept rolling across the North Atlantic all the way to Shetland after battering Scotland’s west coast.

Fcuk me that was some thunderstorm last night :shock: Had to barricade the front door with towels to soak up the incoming water. Everywhere is flooded, took 45 minutes to get out of the community I live in this morning and that involved some off roading - felt sorry for all the poseurs in their little sports cars, they're probably still there :lol: On the plus side I got a free fill up of the swimming pool :D

Ah, this is handy. Let's you know when and where the (lazy bastards at the) Council will be gritting. With some slight modification my running route'll be clear. http://www.bolton.gov.uk/website/pages/ ... tting.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I can tell you where they won't be gritting. Bradford Road and Plodder Lane apart, chance of seeing a grit waggon round the side roads is as likely as finding Noah's Ark on Great Lever and Farnworth Golf Course.

I see that the Met Office have come up trumps again. :lol:

It's neck and neck between them and BWFC Ticket Office for the 'Egregious Wankers of the Year' award and it's still January!
