Revenge for Bayern

I did say it was on Wiki. The page has been changed since I read it earlier. It definitely said 45 Million. How many does their stadium hold again. Are you sure it is only 45,000.boltonboris wrote:4 in 4 for Mekiko... But if they paid £45 Million, I'll show my arse on the town hall steps.malcd1 wrote:BBC reporting that the red scum have signed striker Javier Hernandez from Mexican side Chivas de Guadalajara. Wiki are quoting a fee of £45 Million has been agreed and I bet Old Red Nose still says Man City are ruining the game by trying to buy the league.
Also his scoring record is 122 goals in 68 games. Not bad.
Are you not getting it confused with the friendly at their new 45,000 capacity stadium?

I'm already wondering how Bayern will do in the final, they certainly should have enough to beat Lyon in the next round.
The side has some steel about it. They come from behind against Juventus and Fiorentina, and batting down the hatches 0-3 at Old Trafford was a big achievement red card or not. Fergie should have said- "Typical Germans, well organized in possession, you can never write 'em off."
If Ribery and Robben have a good game at the same time (aside from the goal, they were pretty average overall in this leg) they'll tear Lyon up. Add in Bayern's strange tendency to be free-scoring away from home and you're looking at Barca v Bayern...
...whereupon they'll get duly mangled.

Neither semi is that clear cut. Both your underdog's have top keepers and are well organised vs sides who aren't too great at the back. Lyon will be well organised, and are a top side on their day, their problem is consistency. Lopez, Gomis, Bastos and Pjanic (who is a belting player) have goals in them. The keys are, as you say Robben and Ribery. If neither turn up then I wouldn't back against Lyon.Jakerbeef wrote:I'm already wondering how Bayern will do in the final, they certainly should have enough to beat Lyon in the next round.

As for t'other one, yes Barca were wholly convincing against Arsenal, but the way Arsenal set up, stubbonly refusing to alter their methods meant they played into Barca's hands. Somehow I doubt Mr Mourinho will be so naive. Inter were fantastic over two legs against Chelsea, and breezed past an admittedly poor CSKA. Barca haven't had it all their own way this season. They edged it in the group stages, and their form means they have to be favourites, but not by much. Either way I suspect the winner will come from this game.

Hmm. Some good points there. :/
What muddies the water for me is how only last season Chelsea were better than Barcelona home and away. Chelsea were dumped out by an Inter side they would have mangled last year. Inter now have a chance to beat a team that paneled United in last year's final.
United of course, put Inter out last year. Funny how things fit together...
I'm slightly bias though. I've been a Bayern fan for yonks. That they keep getting revenge over the red scum is almost too good to be true. I was delighted last night. Still kinda am.

Well United are certainly worse than they were last year, Inter certainly better, and I'd say Barca haven't been as good for most of the season, but appear to be hitting stride. As for Bayern, I suppose somebody has to like them, though I myself look on them as one of the clubs difficult to love.Jakerbeef wrote:Hmm. Some good points there. :/

I don't really 'follow' anyone other than Bolton, but there are certain clubs who have a romance around them, however one-eyed it might be. Barca in Spain, St. Ettienne in France, Napoli in Italy. Bayern are the sort of opposite of that. FC Hollywood are hard to love.

Exceot when they're beating the Rags. Then they're great....

Which reminds me. I must get my cassette recording of that game transferred to CD.
It's hard to pin down what makes a club or player 'abrasive'. I like Bayern, but don't like Utd/Arsenal. I like Diouf/Effenberg but don't like Roy Keane. Everything listed there could be seen as 'difficult to love'.Prufrock wrote:As for Bayern, I suppose somebody has to like them, though I myself look on them as one of the clubs difficult to love.
It certainly doesn't help that I've been er, a Bayern fan longer than a Bolton one.
