You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Woohoo betty, pack the bags, I've bought a Carribbean island for us.

My gripe with Sordell's signing was that he didn't then play him and nor did he have any Def Mid cover when we were quite plainly screaming out for it (given that Moo had plainly fallen out of favour)
Wasted what cash we had and didn't address the problem - for me.

Re: Not That Kind Of 5-1
The Sordell signing I see, and I think its a pity that it didn't work out, and doesn't seem like its going to. I was genuinely excited when we got him, I know 3 Watford fans, and they all said we'd bought a fantastic player, one that would eventully leave us for big money. Reamn etc, well, lets just leave it there.
Wasted cash? Yes. But over my dead body is it ever going to go uncommented on that he was worse than Megson in his spending. He wasn't.

Depends how you're evaluating "worse" - he certainly bought some right shite acknowledging that he had less to spend.Lord Kangana wrote:The Sordell signing I see, and I think its a pity that it didn't work out, and doesn't seem like its going to. About the same price as Tim Ream - I know which one I'd have in the side ahead of the other...Lord Kangana wrote:Thats where I'm at. I'll never forget Danny Shittu.

Shittu wasn't even played by the man that bought him. And as for price comparison, theres 4 years difference.

What's the inflation rate for shit players over 4 years? I'm fairly sure my asking price as a shit left back didn't increase much over the same timeframe.Lord Kangana wrote:Shittu wasn't even played by the man that bought him. And as for price comparison, theres 4 years difference.

There must be some kind of Spearmans Rank Correlation you could do on a graph with shitness/time v price/why-the-feck-have-we-bought-him indicators. There must be. I expect better.

Re: Not That Kind Of 5-1
he bought shittu coz we were on the bones of our arse at the time.
he had to buy someone. it were more important than having money in the bank.
coyle wouldve saved the money then got beat by 7 goals each in 3 games. and think he'd done the right thing. the GD mattered at the time.
the gartside "the money is there to spend" quotes at coyle in the BEN were annoying.
and he shouldve bought a Holden replacement straight away. and one for Lee.
he were a cheapskate (and the money werent even his to guard) at the crucial time when it needed spending.
he played it totally wrong. gingerface at least did something to beef up the squad.

Seriously? I mean, I know you obviously take lots of drugs, but we bought Danny Shittu because it was better than having money in the bank?
That is the most brilliantly original excuse for Megson I have ever heard. I take my hat off to you.

Re: Not That Kind Of 5-1
what ? we were on the bones of our arse, he were doing that "not naming enough substitues" thing. shittu were probably the only one he could get hold of.
srsly, we had loads of injuries. we had arsenal, and a few others, and it mightve been terrible resultswise if some kid had had to play.
once ,i think it were cahill got fit again, he only played when needed from the start. then everyone got fit again in the close season.
mightve bin a bit of a waste , but whatever, i could see the reasoning. coyle's signing of ream was worse.. like he'd bought him for the first team and he were crap. gerald cid like. dont think anyone thought shittu were owt else other than a "i need a player, any player" kinda signing. like rasiak being a fallback when the main target didnt pan out.
i bet douglas has backup plans too

Re: Not That Kind Of 5-1
If they're Shittu-esque than I'd rather he didn't bother.
But that, of course, is a load of nonsense anyway. Megson knew in advance that he wasn't good enough (and he did, people involved in our scouting network at the time have confirmed this on national radio) so the question remains, what the f*ck was going through that nobhead's mind when he signed over around £6m of this clubs money on a player he had little or no intention of playing (10 games), and who was f*cking woeful when he did( W1 D3 L6)?
We'd have been no worse off playing kids. i say no worse off, I mean apart from the millions wasted.

It's almost as if the bloody minded ginger tosspot did it just to piss the Bolton fans off seeing as there was no love lost between us and him.

Well it worked. 1-0 to him.
And I have enough (blind?) faith that Freedman is not enough of a simpleton to be firing money away on bench-warmers.

Re: Not That Kind Of 5-1
looks less suss than a load of allardyce signings. so i didnt worry. i just look at it like the donkey got us six points, that iirc we really needed else wed've coyled into wherever.Lord Kangana wrote:

just couldnt get pissed off about it "we've only got 9 fit players, Arsenal are gonna get 8" "he's signed who for how much? fecking better work..." then about 4 games later we had more points than i thought we'd get and could stop panicking for week or two.
he (megson) were like the antihero, so that made me laugh. "he's pissing them off by drawing matches".
