Moved on to Tin Drum now - not as good but that Ghosts track is still as stunning as ever.

The critics are absolutely bob-on, maybe even a little conservative. What an absolutely fecking blinding return to form this. For anyone that enjoyed Levelling the Land this is an absolute must. Best album I've bought in ages and ages. What was it that I said about not buying albums that I hadn't heard any of again?

Not my own scene, but BBC 3 are showing the Reading Festival from 8-0'clock onwards with names like Kasabian, Florence and the Machine and The Vaccines (all names I've heard on here but know nowt about). Just thought I'd mention it.

Manu Chao... La Radiolina.
Love it. He sings in Spanish, English and French. About love and despair and the state of the world.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Manu Chao isn't miserable. He's exuberant. A persistent optimist despite it all.thebish wrote:try ELO "Mr Blue Sky" as an antidote - it'll cheer you up!William the White wrote:Manu Chao... La Radiolina.

F*cking ace.
F*cking ace.
Re: What are you playing tonight?
Sooooo good.
Go Your Own Way is a classic, and I'm still not sure there are two more beautiful songs than Songbird and Oh Daddy.

I reckon Lindsay Buckingham is a much underrated guitarist. I love finger picking stuff and 'never going back again' is just class.Prufrock wrote:

Not playing yet... but just pre-ordered Dylan's forthcoming Tempest.
Raves pretty much all round on BBC2's Review Show tonight...
TBH I'd have ordered it if they'd hated it... But now anticipating...

they have a preview track - Duquesne Whistle - which the reviewer raves about - having listened to it, I am at a loss to know how what he wrote really matched the track!
meh! maybe the rest of the album is ace!
be interested to hear what you think...

I once stood next to him at the bar in The Leadmill in Sheffield when he was in Manu Negra. I'd no idea who he was at the time but the way he was dressed I'd have been severely disappointed if he'd not been the front man of the band we'd gone to see.William the White wrote:Manu Chao isn't miserable.
