Does anybody who wants to not already know? They can publish it in the whole rest of the world including Scotland. I had no interest at all in who it is and I still know!

it does kinda put the lie to the whole John Whittingdale defense - that the papers didn't publish news of his shenanigans because they now understood that it is wrong to invade peoples' privacy when it is not really in the public interest... and this proves that self-regulation is working...

if that is the case - why spend tens of thousands of pounds trying to overturn a super-injunction to publish a story aboput someone's private life not in the public interest??

Hmmm. Methinks the gentleman doth protest too much.
I wish I didn't know. Put me off my tea. Had all sorts of celebrity shenanigans swirling round in my nasty little brain too. What a let down.

I still don't know.

Mark Hughes has just been asked post match, why he's finding it so hard to keep the backdoor shut. I reckon he must be involved too.

In Canada, unlike the UK, the truth is not a defence against a defamation suit. The publisher also has to show that it is in the public interest to know the details.

Sounds good to me. Beats me as how knowing what somebody else is doing in their bedroom is in the public interest?

I'm not going to comment on them here in case I fall foul of them!

One of my work colleagues has just had a call from her 12 year old daughter's high school. She's been put into 'Exclusion' along with 2 other kids for a week. Her crime? Whilst chatting to other kids on her table, her friend told 2 male schoolkids that they were "Gay" following a silly exchange. The lad in question then returned with "Yeah, but your dad is Caitlyn Jenner" (Apparently, this is funny to 12 yr olds). All sent into exclusion with comments recorded on their school records for the use of "Offensive and discriminatory language" with a warning that any further incidents will result in their temporary exclusion. 12 year old is hysterically upset on the phone as she's a generally decent kid, fairly quiet, who just happened to laugh. I'm saddened at the way the school have handled this.

We used to get lines for minor offences, the cane for others. Parents were rarely ever involved. Seemed to work okay.

Welcome to the world of "politically correct". To me, this is the sort of dialogue 12 year olds typically have with one another, before they're conditioned on "how to behave" - resistance is futile, we are the Borg.

I'd have thought that a more constructive way of dealing with it would be a short talk to explain why you need to be careful with the words you choose, especially as you get older as saying things that upset people can have some negative consequences.

Exclusion and adding of it to a school record seems grossly OTT. I suppose they probably have to record incidents that are deemed offensive and discriminatory but surely they could exercise a little judgement?

Car leasing....its an absolute minefield. Looking at the potential to lease something as convenient as a company car (with servicing, tyres and insurance in if possible). Any suggestions for lease brokers or companies? I'll be getting a car allowance from my company so want to cover costs and pocket a few quid if possible.

I've just looked into all this and have, in the end, decided to stay in the company car scheme.
