They might be doing it on expenses. Or the Russkies have successfully fed Nixon some disinformation. Or, finally we've found Our Sheikh.TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2019 11:49 am

Wouldn't surprise me if they were actors. "Wear sunglasses and suits. Don't go full sheikh, that'd be too obvious. Speak in a thick but not easily discernible accent. Mumble to each other. Point approvingly at things - floodlights, etc. When we get near the pasty advert, point and ask and then we can all laugh together like we're best mates and you're bound to offer the most money."TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2019 11:49 am

Bassini in disguise perhaps? Slips into the chairman's office unnoticed and leaves a little present.

Nixon says the newcomers are "Far East. Again. But middle man knows club well." Doesn't think they're linked to Football Ventures.
As for admin, and whether it's Eddie or Ken pushing the button, he says it's "being sorted out who does what and who pays etc. Told by people close to it that on schedule. May be by close of business or Monday morning."

Ken's now claiming he's filed for admin, which (as I understand it) gives him a bit more control but costs him more. There's notably careful delineation between BWFC and Burnden Leisure, although perhaps accidentally careful, considering they can't even spell "Fildraw" correctly. (The club, not Domingos. Although come to think of it, 'Domingos' sounds a bit like a terrible 70s nightclub.)
I'd be very intrigued to hear what sharper minds than mine think of this. At moments like these I'm glad Worthy's back aboard.
But it feels ominously like manoeuvring.
Tony Domingos is my nod to Steve Coogan's ficticious Portuguese 80s style crooner Tony Ferrino.

I think Bassini is more likely to sneak into Chairmans office and barracade himself in before ringing Sky Sports to say he has taken charge of the club.

Re: Ken Anderson - New Owner (Definitely. For Now ..... )
When we enter the "insolvency event", what happens? Does the administrator attempt to sell the entire package and, if that fails, sells off assets individually? The latter meaning we are no longer a going concern. And how long does the admin have to try to sell the club? Is there a point in the next month or so by which we have to confirm we'll participate in next season's fixtures (so the EFL can fulfil its sole responsibility of arranging matches)?

Re: Ken Anderson - New Owner (Definitely. For Now ..... )
Administrator analyses the business. Works out how to get best return for creditors whilst ultimately keeping business going. That can mean selling off non-core assets separately or selling whole thing in one. Given its a football business it is likely the latter other than any land that isn't core to business. (Euxton had we still owned it now for example may have had more value if sold separately depending on planning permissions). Then administrator sells assets based on best offers.TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2019 2:18 pmWhen we enter the "insolvency event", what happens? IF they feel it is not possible to preserve business and achieve a satisfactory result for creditors then they can liquidate and sell off the assets and close the business.
One assumes that IF the reports of genuine interest in buying from admin are true (pretty big if when it comes to the crunch of course) that there will be no need to explore the latter option. And it wouldn't make a lot of sense for an administrator to do so in this scenario given that (one assumes) the value of most assets are greater as part of a football business.

He has a duty to make as much money as possible. 'He' weighs up the options and then releases the sword of Damocles.TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2019 2:18 pmWhen we enter the "insolvency event", what happens? It's a balancing act. If he can make more money by dissolving the business, he could. Nothing in law to stop that. Just that usually there's just pork scratchings to be scraped up, and having a going concern at the end gives them brownie points, will always encourage them to go down the route of ongoing business model. It's not a requirement, just a heads up to their planning brainBWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2019 2:32 pmImportant to note that as a priority he has to try and keep the business running....if possible.Lost Leopard Spot wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2019 2:29 pmHe has a duty to make as much money as possible. Duty of care is to the company and trying to rescue it. It isn't just a question of "how do we make most money"? Its more "how can we keep company alive and satisfy creditors"?Lost Leopard Spot wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2019 2:40 pmIt's a balancing act. If he can make more money by dissolving the business, he could. There is a balance but it is a responsibility of the administrator to "try and keep the company alive". They do have a duty of care - by law. That doesn't mean they cannot eventually judge doing so to be impossible.

it would be incredibly Bolton to have very rich backers but be unable to spend a transfer fee (because embargo)CRISIS club Bolton Wanderers are wanted by super-rich Chinese group Shandong Luneng - with a return for Sam Allardyce on their menu.
Top officials from the company have been shown round the ground and are weighing up an offer to buy the stricken outfit.
The Chinese group tried to take over the club a year ago but ran into snags in talks with owner Ken Anderson. However two senior officials flew in at the start of a renewed bid and were accompanied by former Wanderers sports scientist Mark Taylor.
Shandong Luneng are a leading power company in China and already have a major club in Jinan but they are keen on buying an English team. Deal fixer Taylor is a former player who worked with Allardyce at Bolton, Blackburn, Newcastle and Sunderland.

Re: Ken Anderson - New Owner (Definitely. For Now ..... )
More from Nixon, in his usual Twitter Q&A style:
BOLTON. The Chinese chaps in yesterday. Full tour. Invited and lined up by a proper guy. Tried for it before. Trying for it again? Looking very likely. Big Sam would be another issue. But a serious player now in the game.
[Michael] James has known about them for a time. And probably would step back if they follow through with it.
Admin process about to begin. Would have to move awful fast to buy. They would be aware of admin situation before travelling. They don’t come all this way for fun.
(Thought there were serious restrictions in place for Chinese investment abroad in sport and entertainment because of how much money was leaving the country?)
So did I. But there are always ways to skin a cat. And the top guy wouldn’t come over and moon round if he couldn’t pay for it. Had heard of problems in that department before. However the top guy has been over. So he will know his game plan more than us. There are many ways round that. Look at way Manchester high ups have been flirting with Chinese money for last couple of years.
(would it still be a quick admin like FV and EDT are hoping for or is this going to become an auction that could drag on for a while?)
Only found out about them in last 24 hours. Don’t have info on that bit.
Meanwhile, Iles:
"Not in work today - but know this Chinese group has been sniffing around for ages, introduced by Mark Taylor. Hope and pray I'm wrong... but Big Sam and big bucks? If it looks to good to be true..?"
