The Gotan Project are excellent. they're gonna be on an episode of Jools Holland in a few weeks as well as playing a one-off night at the Brixton Academy, i don't think they've any plans to come up north, which is a shame.

Saw them live in Edinburgh a couple of years ago - excellente! One of their choons is currently being used in the Boots Xmas TV advert.

Had "The very best of the Kinks" on in the car this morning.
(This album is not to be confused with "The best of the Kinks" or "The Kinks Greatest Hits" or "The Kinks - The singles").

Good stuff! :D

Thats what I like about this thread. It reminds me of quality bands I'd forgotten about. Another one from Dr Hotdog.

Know nothing about the band, but Kasabian (who I've heard mentioned on here several times) are on "Later, with Jools Holland" on TV tonight; 11-35 on BBC2. Just mentioned it in case any fans missed it.

they seem to split opinion, me I think the eponimous first album is a triumph of sound over nonsense lyrics, the new album is much more of a cultivated sound and maybe a grower for me.

Back on the Turkish stuff tonight. Brilliant rythmn and percussion. Takes you to far-off exotic places.
